Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the pub's food and beer, with the signature burger and the beef and bacon burger with an extra patty named as highlights, alongside sticky toffee pudding and apple and blackberry crumble with custard, described as the best pub pudding one diner had eaten. A steak and the cask and craft ale selection also draw praise, and staff are repeatedly called friendly, with one server quickly arranging a table for a diner using a zimmer frame. The sun-lit beer garden is liked, though one reviewer calls the outside little more than tables in a car park. Complaints are real and specific. One diner arriving at 8pm for a family meal found the kitchen closed despite signs and a website suggesting later food hours, and a head office complaint went unanswered by the venue. Another says smoking at outdoor tables goes unenforced despite a designated area. Others mention greasy fish, stale bread, an only ok salt beef burger, a watered down cranberry juice, and a bar order forgotten for half an hour. Several note children are not allowed.

“For a pub chain this has been really well refurbished inside. Very pleasant staff and wide range of good value food.”

“Just been for a lovely meal with the family. We were welcomed by the lovely Paula, who spotted my dad struggling with his zimmer, so came over to tell us that one of the ladies was clearing a table for us straight away. Very friendly people, and the food and atmosphere were brilliant.”

“Unfortunately, another disappointing visit. We’ve been to this pub several times and have experienced the same issue each time. We love sitting outside when the weather is nice, but the smoking around the tables really spoils the experience. On this occasion, it seemed that almost every other table had people smoking continuously, which we found unpleasant while trying to eat and enjoy our drinks. We raised this with the staff, who confirmed that there is a designated smoking area, but this doesn’t seem to be enforced. It’s a shame because we otherwise like the pub, but sitting in a cloud of cigarette smoke while eating isn’t something we should have to put up with. Hopefully the management will address this, as it’s stopped us from enjoying what could otherwise be a lovely outdoor setting.”

“It's a traditional type of Green King pub. The positives for me are a very good selection of real ale and pleasant staff. The negative is the outside area, which whilst having plenty of seats is little more than tables in a car park. Dog friendly. Haven't eaten there recently.”

“Details – Arrived at 8.00pm for a family meal and sat down and looked at the menus to decide what we wanted, a young lady came to advise us the kitchen was closed so no food, she blamed greene king for this and said we don’t do the signage of website, which suggested closing times for food much later, even the signs outside said 10.00pm and the website, a total waste of our evening and the manager we asked for never came , we left not happy at all as we work weekends and this a family. We reported this to head office who took three days to forward our concerns to the pub, and no surprisingly any contact from the venue. The website clearly states Sunday hours good till 8.30pm”
