About Hobo Kiosk

Hobo Kiosk is a bohemian pub at 9 Bridgewater St in Liverpool, hosted by its two owner-artists, who also specialise in Liverpool history, culture and myth. The walls are covered in quirky objects, which gives drinkers plenty to look at in a small, compact room. The beer list leans toward local brewed craft beers, and there is no cask ale. Bartenders share the origins of the drinks and the breweries behind them. A Thursday Club of regulars chats with visitors, and games and music are sometimes on. Dogs are welcome, and the room can be standing room only at busy times. The pub opens Wednesday to Sunday and is closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Background music plays through the evening, and a short tune marks last orders.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often point to the eclectic decor, with crazy stuff covering the walls to look at and investigate, and an interior they call quirky, colourful and compact. Close behind is the beer, mostly local craft beers in a good selection, though one reviewer notes there is no cask ale. Quality background music, bar games and good chats come up as well, and one visitor found standing room only. The owners and staff are repeatedly described as friendly and welcoming, and one bartender is praised for telling the stories and origins behind each drink and brewery. One reviewer advises staying for last orders for a little tune. Another, arriving shortly before closing, was invited by the regulars of the Thursday Club to join them and left feeling like they were saying goodbye to family.

“Visited last month during a quick stop in Liverpool on my way up to Scotland. I arrived not long before closing but was warmly welcomed by the owner, Delia, and both her and some of the regulars, members of the Thursday Club, invited me to join them. I was only there an hour but as I left upon closing, I genuinely felt like I was saying goodbye to family. This is without a doubt one of the best pubs I've ever visited, with a warm, colourful and quirky interior, excellent beer and of course wonderful people. I'll definitely be back!”

“Stopped in here for drinks… Great atmosphere in an off the wall place, I’m told it is the creation of 2 artists and many years of collecting ‘stuff’…. Well it was worth it, enjoyed our visit enormously and the bartender was as very friendly and informative. If you love normal then stay away, if you love different drop in and drop out….”

“I loved this place, heard about it for ages but only got to go tonight. Met up with my old tutor from 1992 and had a wonderful couple of pints, catching up with him and chatting to people I'd never met. This place is quirky, fun and alternative and the beers are really good. I can't recommend Hobo Kiosk highly enough”
