Customer Review Summary

Breakfast draws the most praise, with reviewers describing a traditional English breakfast with generous portions, a vegetarian full English with oven baked hashbrowns, sourdough and free range scrambled eggs, and a vegan full breakfast with butter beans. Coffee, including a well-crafted espresso and an Americano, gets repeated approval. Close behind are the scones with Devonshire cream, pizzas, a pesto, chicken and mozzarella sandwich, loaded nachos and a range of cakes. Several call the staff friendly and the atmosphere lovely, and one regular uses the cafe as a place to work. Complaints are few but specific. One diner found the oven baked salmon overcooked and dry, with the salmon the smallest part of the dish. Another says a waiter spilled both coffees, set them down and walked away without an apology or a replacement, leaving them to fetch napkins themselves. One reviewer notes that ordering and paying happens at the counter. Food is described as arriving fast, and one pair of diners says the vegan breakfast was so large they should have shared an order.

“Absolutely loved our experience at Spires Cafe in Oxford! The traditional English breakfast we ordered was nothing short of amazing—delicious and generous portions that left us completely satisfied. The menu is extensive, featuring fantastic offerings that cater to a variety of tastes. The casual setting makes it a perfect spot to relax and enjoy a meal. Everything we saw coming out of the kitchen looked appetizing, but the highlight for us was definitely the scones with Devonshire cream—perfection on a plate! The espresso was also well-crafted, adding a nice touch to our breakfast. The staff were incredibly friendly, making us feel right at home. Plus, the location is great, making it easy to stop by after exploring the beautiful city. Price point is excellent.
