Quick info
About Sherwin Arms
The Sherwin Arms is a Greene King pub on Derby Rd in Nottingham, with a long history as a carvery and family pub. The bar area has a pool table, darts and a big screen for sports, and a host runs a weekly quiz night there. The family area is separate from the bar, and the spacious room has plenty of seating. The menu includes a jerk chicken sizzler, a cheesy BBQ stack burger and a Chick'N'Mix, alongside steak served with onion rings. Special offers run through the week, including a two-meal deal midweek.

Customer Review Summary
Most reviewers come for good-value pub meals, with special offers through the week and kids meals singled out as inexpensive. The jerk chicken sizzler draws the strongest praise for flavour and cooking, with the cheesy BBQ stack burger close behind. One quiz-night diner called the food a typical pub lunch and asked for the tikka sauce to return on the Chick'N'Mix. Staff are often described as friendly and quick, and a quiz night and a birthday for 20 with a buffet both went down well, along with the pool table, darts and big screen. Service is not uniformly smooth. One reviewer found it a little slow, and another chased steaks ordered with onion rings, which only arrived after the steaks were eaten, with no comment from the waiter. Longtime locals also object to the new landlord keeping children out of the bar area.

“Concerns Regarding the New Landlord at The Sherwin Arms Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to express a number of concerns regarding the recent changes at The Sherwin Arms. My family and I, along with many others in the local community, have been customers of The Sherwin Arms for nearly 40 years. During that time, we have seen it evolve from a popular carvery into a welcoming family pub that has served the local community well. Over the past year, however, we have become increasingly concerned about the direction the pub is taking. Most recently, the new landlord has stated that children are not permitted in the bar area due to licensing restrictions. This has raised questions among many regular customers, as previous landlords have not enforced such a restriction. We would appreciate clarification on whether this is genuinely a condition of the premises licence or whether it is a policy introduced by the new landlord. If it is a licence condition, we would be interested to know why similar Greene King pubs, such as the The Nurseryman, The Bluebell and The Cadland, appear to operate differently and continue to welcome families throughout their premises. The Sherwin Arms has long been regarded as a community-focused family venue, and many regular patrons are concerned that recent decisions may be changing the atmosphere and character that made the pub so popular. We would welcome a response addressing these concerns and providing clarification regarding the licensing position and future direction of the pub. Yours faithfully, The locals”

“Visited the sherwin tonight for the quiz. served by Mia, she was amazing! very quick and efficient, made ordering food easy and was able to help with choices and decisions! our whole group was impressed with her. the food was nice, warm and a typical pub lunch. (bring back the tikka sauce on the Chick'N'Mix). Sam is a brilliant quiz host, the quiz is very fun and this will be a weekly visit!”
