Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the food and welcoming staff, singling out fish and chips on a Friday and a mixed grill, with an extensive menu and beer selection also noted. Close behind are events: one group hired both rooms for a cheer and dance night, another celebrated a wedding, and a Christmas Day lunch drew praise for conscientious staff. Several describe the staff as friendly, helpful and accommodating. The lower ratings are sharper. One party describes a very long wait for food that arrived only warm, and a free drink offered for the delay was then withdrawn. A regular says the beer has become poor quality and the staff seem not to care about orders. One reviewer reports flies and compares the experience to eating at a street food stall. Another describes a duty manager responding rudely to a complaint about a poorly poured shandy, taking the glass away, stirring it and handing it back.

“Could do with a couple fly killers - felt like eating at an Indian street food stall”

“15th June. This is duty manager matt. Matt thinks it's ok to abuse a customer by being rude arrogant and belligerent towards them when challenged over a poorly served £5 pint of shandy. But instead of just apologizing and provide better customer service by poring another pint correctly took the glass away and gave it stir and handed it back. I said his attitude was poor and unacceptable. But instead of taking accountability he started ranting arguing with the customer like he wasn't a human being. When i told him i will be complaining to Green King over his attitude he just said ''go for it'' and walked away dismissively. This is very unprofessional immature behaviour the kind that needs weeding out of the industry. On Green Kings website it outlines a number of qualities needed to become a manager, and on this occasion i didn't see any of these displayed here. Reading other customer reviews it's not the first time the manager's attitude has been flagged. Save the usual scripted response as this WILL now be escalated to Green King Corporate offering further evidence if required and hopefully this particular manger will receive a much needed attitude adjustment and some re-training improving his customer service.”

“My pals from work and I have been coming here for months, but unfortunately it seems to be getting worse every time we visit. The beer is poor quality and often not a good pint, and the staff don’t seem to smile or care about your order. It’s really disappointing because we used to enjoy coming here. Sadly, I can’t recommend this place anymore.”

“Celebrated a wedding here yesterday and it was amazing. The staff are so polite and accommodating. Food was great and all requests were welcome. Thank you for a great visit”

“This place is always busy, which says a lot about how good it is. The food was really nice, and I’ve actually visited twice now. Each time, the staff made me feel genuinely welcome, which made the experience even better. Definitely somewhere I’d return to again.”
