About Waters Edge

Waters Edge is a canalside pub on Castle Bridge Rd in Nottingham, set by the canal and basin with river views. An on-site play park gives families with children somewhere to go during a visit. The kitchen serves British pub food and an all-day breakfast. Burgers include a veggie burger made with an Impossible patty, and a sharing nacho plate suits a group. A Saturday special menu runs alongside the regular food. Ordering works at the counter, or guests can scan the QR code on the menu, choose a table number and pay through the Green King app, after which the food comes to the table. Live sports are shown, and a dart board and pool tables can be hired. The pub takes walk-ins.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often praise the generous pub food, with the sharing nacho plate and wings, a Saturday special menu that included lamb kofta flatbread, sea bass and burgers, and a steak singled out as really good. Close behind is the canal and basin setting, with outside seating described as lovely and calming, and an on-site play park that keeps kids entertained. Several call the staff friendly and welcoming, and one says a server made sure a forgotten iPad was returned the next night. Reasonable prices come up repeatedly, and one diner mentions a blue light discount. The sharpest complaints concern service and the burgers. One reviewer received a veggie burger with a thin spread, a little lettuce and onion, and an empty plate, after being told the onion rings were not vegan. Another got a half pint instead of a pint and mayo on a burger ordered without it, and two say no one checked on their food. One reviewer notes a wait on a busy, unusually warm evening, which staff explained when ordering. Another says a group's dishes all arrived together.

“We visited this venue on Saturday theb29th August, the person who took our order obviously didn't understand simple requests, like I want a pint then get served a half, we wanted the burger with cheese and bacon no mayo or salad, it came with mayo all over the bun, quite simple requests but easily messed up by an ignorant member of staff. I wouldn't recommend this place at all, not one member of staff asked us if our food was ok or anything, customer service just simply didnt exist.”

“Stopped here before cinema, the sharing nacho plate was fantastic and all the small plates we got with them were too! Loved the wings. Staff are friendly and I can already imagine the summertime vibes along the river will be fantastic.”

“It's sort of standard pub grub, the steak was medium as asked for..... The peppercorn sauce was really tasty and I used it for dip my burger into because it was the only thing going for that burger... The patty sourced from the impossible company was good! I'm adding to this and then having to lower the rating now because having re-read the menu- definitely should have had some coleslaw there, not just a thin spread of something on the bottom bread of the burger. I've never even seen pretend stuff just spread like that onto the bottom of a burger...and I asked where are the onion rings as per the menu (I didn't read some page 6 small print) and got told you're not having them because they are not vegan or something even though it clearly says your burgers come with that there's some small prints and where possibly that says I can't have that but even if there was onion rings I have never ever seen an empty plate like that.. yeah we are looking at it again I definitely didn't get given the coleslaw it was just miserable..... I've attached photos to show the most bleakly decorated burger I've ever received - even McDonald's manages to put more things on. in fact the floppy iceberg and I think it was like one shred of onion that looked like it had come out of a cheese grater Were so swamped in the little bit of mayonnaise and, it was a double burger two burgers no relish no nothing.,. dry as anything yeah, and of course there was nothing else on the plate because I ordered the veggie burger they told me afterwards they don't give me onion rings like it says on the menu because it's vegan or something like that so it was a big empty rectangular space with a burger with nothing on it. the fries were good....... I wouldn't have let it out of my kitchen like that- all they needed was a bit of decoration to make you feel even 1/4 cared for.... I also checked again on the menu yes just checked it did say coleslaw no no that was one shred of red onion a tiny bit of lettuce all swamped in some cheap mayonnaise... Luckily we got this food with vouchers I certainly wouldn't come back and pay for it here.. I've scored low for the service but there was nothing wrong with it just didn't exist it was just like one of those ocado robots could have done the same thing because we weren't asked at any point what we thought of anything or did we need anything or anything like that but there was no problem with it either it was just characterless”

“Brilliant food and atmosphere. We were staying in a nearby hotel last week and had a bit of a wait for food the first night, but we were told when we ordered that there would be a wait as the weather was unusually warm and it was very busy. We didn't mind this; the food was great, and the staff were amazing we had left an iPad behind and the staff insured it was looked after especially Andy Spencer who came to our table the next night to insure we got it back. The play park on site is amazing to keep the kids entertained would definitely recommend”
