About The Sun Inn
The Sun Inn is a pub at 9 High St in Northampton, with a separate function space called The Barn that can be hired for events. The Barn has its own bar and is decorated with fairy lights, and buffet food is offered for events held there. Hirers have used it for birthday parties and charity team workshops. In the main pub, the menu includes a Sunday roast, and the bar pours real ales. A private dining room seats groups, and dogs are welcome. The garden has a children's play area.

Customer Review Summary
Most reviewers point to The Barn as the draw, praising it as the venue for a wake, an elopement meal, a birthday party and a charity team workshop, with communication and helpful staff mentioned repeatedly. Close behind is the food: a Sunday roast with nibbles, a lamb and feta burger, a schnitzel, a buffet that was topped up on the spot, and a breakfast described as delicious. Others single out the garden and children's play area, where one waitress took a solo parent's orders outside and kept checking in. Service is described as friendly and attentive, though the one real complaint comes from a busy Friday night with a loud band playing for a private party. There, drinks took a good while to arrive and the starter and mains were slow, yet the nachos, steak and swordfish were called very good. That diner still plans to return on a quieter evening.

“Lovely afternoon in the garden, food was great and the service was excellent. The waitress realised I was on my own my with 2 kids and took all my orders outside and kept checking on us, really appreciated this. Great kids play area. We’ll be back!”

“We recently hired The Barn at The Sun for a wake. From start to finish Chantelle, Greta and the team were nothing but friendly and helpful and Chantelle's informative and sympathetic (given the occasion) emails were very much appreciated. We also underestimated the turnout and Greta was fantastic at sorting out more of the (very good) buffet on the spot. We had a lot of local guests saying 'Why have I never been here!?' plus a number from further afield who loved the pub. The Barn was tastefully decorated with fairy lights and the team had kindly arranged some framed photos of our deceased loved one, which we'd dropped off the night before, plus candles, around the venue. In a nutshell, lovely venue, great food and wonderful team. Thank you Chantelle and the Sun crew for making a sad occasion go so smoothly.”

“We held my husband’s birthday celebration in the barn and outdoor seating area. The staff especially Chantelle, were helpful and happy to share their knowledge of organising events. The party went smoothly and everyone had a great time. The food was great and have the separate bar meant that people could get served quickly. Thank you!”

“Came here for a quiet lunch and left genuinely smiling, largely down to our waitress Shenea. She was warm without being over the top, checked in at the right moments without hovering, and just had a way of making you feel looked after rather than processed. In a world of forgettable service, she’s the kind of person who makes a place worth coming back to. The food was great, but honestly she made the experience.”
