Customer Review Summary

The caveats are consistent cooking and service. One regular says part of a meal is burnt or undercooked every visit, though staff quickly offer a replacement. Another found staff rolling their eyes and unwelcoming. A delivery order arrived with soggy garlic bread, a stone cold carvery and mash that would not break up. One reviewer felt a vegetarian carvery costs the same as a meat one with no meat alternative offered.

“The staff here are amazing. Very friendly and always seem very happy to help and make conversation with you. They’re also very quick to rectify when things don’t go as planned. Unfortunately I have found the food to be problematic. Every time I’ve been there has either been a part of my meal that has not been cooked correctly, burnt or in some cases the entire meal was unpleasant. As I said the staff are always very quick to offer a replacement or complimentary item however, when it happens every time it becomes hard to ignore. It can make it difficult to go out for a meal as you don’t know what you’re going to get and sometimes you don’t want to have to make a fuss. I understand there may be mild inconsistency dependent on the chef working but I think it’s not too much to ask that a certain standard of cooking is always upheld. All that being said, the menu is fairly varied, the staff are lovely and the food is all well-priced. Just a shame that sometimes it’s nice and other times it’s not”

“We had a lovely meal here with my partner and our toddler. All of the staff were welcoming and friendly, especially Liz, who went above and beyond to make us feel looked after. While we were queuing for the carvery, she thoughtfully placed a colouring pack on our table for our little girl, which was a lovely touch and kept her entertained. The service was excellent throughout. We arrived at around 11am, and it was nice and quiet, although it became much busier about half an hour later. Overall, a great experience, and we'd happily visit again.”

“The food is great value and the service was excellent. Friendly staff and short waiting times with a decent pub meal. The cakes are gigantic and everything was reasonably priced by today's standards. Would definitely go back.”

“Held a family gathering here that we had booked in advance, had a last minute change of numbers and this was accomodated for no problem at all. Booking was easy to do, due to our group size being 17 I used the automated booking service via telephone, took less than 5 minutes to do. Service during our meal was fantastic, food arrived quickly and all our separate orders came out very close together. Food was really good, desserts were a definite favourite, massive portion sizes and huge variety of options. Staff couldn't do enough to help us & make sure we were well catered for. Every member of staff we came across was really friendly and couldn't do enough to ensure we were okay. The air con was also a huge bonus! My only gripe was that a vegetarian carvery is charged the same price as a meat one yet there was no meat alternative offered which seemed a shame. The carvery was lovely though, plenty of fresh and very hot options. Will definitely be returning - thank you!”

“While travelling through Northampton today, I stopped for lunch at Poppy Field Farm with my disabled mother, and I couldn’t have been more impressed with the experience. From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and attentive. The restaurant was spotless, and our food was served promptly with genuine smiles all round. I ordered the mixed grill with peppercorn sauce, and it was cooked to perfection. Every element of the meal was delicious and exactly what I was hoping for. My mother chose the all-day breakfast and thoroughly enjoyed every bite. While we were there, we couldn’t help but notice the incredible selection of giant cakes and ice creams on offer, which looked absolutely fantastic and will definitely tempt us on our next visit! A special mention must go to Sasha, who was simply tremendous. Nothing was too much trouble for her. She greeted us with a warm smile, made us feel genuinely welcome, and provided outstanding service throughout our visit. Sasha is a real credit to the company and the brand—professional, caring, friendly, and incredibly accommodating. She deserves every bit of praise and recognition for the wonderful experience she helped create. As someone who travels extensively around the country, I visit a lot of places to eat, and Poppy Field Farm stands out for all the right reasons. I would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone and will certainly be returning whenever I’m in the area again. Thank you to Sasha and the whole team for making our visit such an enjoyable one.”
