  “We went on Saturday for the taster menu, and it was superb! The service from Alice was excellent, and the food was incredible. Would recommend the wine pairing too, as this was exquisite and added to the experience. Will definitely be back, the sooner the better.”

  “A disappointing experience for vegetarians – a missed opportunity at this level The standard menu was fine, but the vegetarian alternative fell significantly short of what one would expect from a restaurant of this calibre. It felt like an afterthought at best. For example, the amuse-bouche substitution – a “Carrot Tartar” in place of the “Pork & Tuna Tartlet” – lacked any specific flavour or aroma despite being described as smoked. It was bland and forgettable. The “Isle of Wight Tomato & Lemon” was pleasant in taste, but noticeably inferior in texture and portion size compared to its non-vegetarian counterpart, which was set with gelatine. Using agar-agar, or simply asking the guest whether gelatine is acceptable, would have been an easy fix – neither was considered. Of the mains, the Maitake Mushrooms were genuinely excellent and fully deserving of the accolades. The Roasted White Asparagus, however, was a real low point: a single, poorly peeled spear in place of two pieces of meat. The accompanying bread, which in the original menu featured several flavors including meat, was simply stripped of these elements and padded out with more of the same fruit gel. When we politely raised these concerns, the – otherwise friendly – staff expressed sympathy, but nothing changed; and a 15% service charge was still suggested at the end of the meal. For two guests spending more than £450, that level of afterthought in the vegetarian offering is simply not acceptable at this standard. All in all: One course was star-worthy. The rest ranged from “Michelin mentioned” at best to well below that. For any vegetarian considering a visit: think carefully before booking.”

  “We travelled to the UK from Australia, and a dinner at House of Tides was one of the special experiences we had planned for our trip. Unfortunately, when we arrived, we discovered that my booking had somehow been made for the following day—after we were due to leave Newcastle. Despite this, the team were incredibly accommodating and managed to fit us in. We enjoyed the tasting menu with matching wines, and every course was exceptional. The food was beautifully presented, thoughtfully paired, and absolutely delicious from start to finish. What stood out just as much as the food was the service. The staff were outstanding—professional, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. My husband even commented on how impressive the team dynamic was, with everyone working together seamlessly to ensure guests had a flawless experience. House of Tides delivered a memorable dining experience that exceeded our expectations. If we ever find ourselves back in Newcastle, this would be at the top of our list to visit again.”

  “What an amazing experience, from our arrival to the last course we could not fault the restaurant and their staff one bit. All our serving staff were very attentive and knowledgeable, explaining all about the food and wine and advising how we should eat the food to enjoy it the best. The food was so delicious and although the portions are small the are perfect size and after all courses we did not come away feeling hungry. The restaurant is in such a beautiful G1 listed building and it is very sympatheticaly presented. Our trip to the restaurant was part of a wedding gift so we will remember our experience for a long time. We were served by Alice, Sofia and Bob, they are such a credit to the Restaurant and very knowledgeable explaining all about the food and wine.”

  “Time and tide wait for no man, so said Geoffrey Chaucer. Well in this little tranquil corner of Newcastle the time goes slowly and if your lucky enough to have a window seat you can watch the tide ebb from the House of Tides....... From being greeted to seated and throughout the evening the service was impeccable with an attentive relaxed smile. The star of the show, small but perfectly formed gastronomic delights, served with a description that doesn't leave you guessing what your next course is. The building is fantastic, lots of old original features blending seamlessly with very modern cuisine. It's not going to be the cheapest dinning option in Newcastle but it was never designed to be, it may however be the best and I believe you really will struggle to find better service. Nothing was rushed and it was a fantastic evening. Thanks 🙏”

  “My daughter and I visited House of Tides while travelling from Coventry to Newcastle to celebrate her 12th birthday, and what we experienced was nothing short of extraordinary. From the very first moment, we felt genuinely welcomed and cared for, and that feeling never left us. Every single member of the team delivered service at a level that is incredibly rare. It wasn’t just professional it was warm, thoughtful, and deeply human. You could feel the pride, passion, and love for what they do in every interaction. I won’t mention individual names because everyone was exceptional, but it was a privilege to meet Chef Patron Ken Atkinson and the incredible kitchen team behind this magic. For my daughter Victoria, this was beyond a meal it was an unbelievable and unforgettable experience. Seeing her excitement, joy, and amazement throughout the evening is something I will cherish forever. The team made her feel truly special, and that is something you simply cannot put a price on. The food… honestly, words fall short. Each dish was flawless, beautifully presented, perfectly cooked, and bursting with flavour. It was without question the best food experience of our lives. Every course felt like a story being told, with precision, creativity, and soul. If I had to rate the service and memories on a scale of 1 to 10, the only honest answer would be 100. This was not just dining it was artistry, hospitality, and emotion combined at the highest possible level. We wholeheartedly recommend House of Tides to anyone looking for something truly special. This evening will stay with us forever, and we promise we will return. Thank you for creating memories that will last a lifetime.”

  “Would recommend this place to anyone. Food service and place fabulous. We had the tasting menu with wine. Fantastic is the only way to describe. Will definitely be back. Amazing 5 stars alround. Special touch with receiving the personal signed birthday card from all at yhe house of tides. Made my day.”

  “I came with my parents for my birthday and firstly the staff were super accommodating to my mums food preferences which are admittedly quite confusing. They were also super attentive and friendly. Our cocktails were lovely and the food was incredible with generous portions. They packed up all our leftovers very neatly in a bag, didn’t rush us and made our time special. I especially thought the chicken dish was delicious and my mum loved the mandolin dessert. Obviously on the pricey side but worth a visit for a treat. The pictures don’t show all the courses, just a few.”
