About St. Vincent
St. Vincent is a small wine bar and restaurant at 29 Broad Chare on Newcastle Quayside, inspired by places its owners visited in France and Italy. The food is built around small plates for sharing, with hand-crafted charcuterie and cheeses alongside Lindisfarne oysters served with a shallot dressing. Scallops with garlic butter are also on the menu. The wine list is extensive and draws on small producers, with wines available by the glass and staff on hand to advise on what to pour. A few classic cocktails sit alongside it. The team can also advise on coeliac needs. Walk-ins are taken without a reservation on busy nights.

Customer Review Summary
Oysters are the draw most reviewers return to, with one praising them served with a shallot dressing and another pairing them with the charcuterie. Close behind are the seafood mains and starters: monkfish, scallops in garlic butter, sea bass and a salt cod crudo, plus lamb chops and a sirloin with crispy roast potatoes. The wine list gets repeated credit, with staff described as knowledgeable about choosing by the glass and one diner singling out a Negroamaro rosé. Service is called friendly and accommodating even when the room was packed or heaving, and one reviewer notes the staff understood coeliac needs. Reviewers also describe a buzzy, chill atmosphere. The one criticism is from a Valentine's visit, where the scallops and lobster left a diner underwhelmed, though the kitchen put it right as soon as it was raised. Several mention celebrating birthdays and anniversaries, and one says staff made sure a table reached a concert on time.

“Celebrated my friends birthday at St. Vincent. Overall, we had a great meal! We ordered several starters which included the fried zucchini frites and scallops. Scallops was a must order, really fresh, the garlic butter went well with it. Mains included the chicken, monkfish, and white lasagne. Overall, every dish was spot on. Service was excellent as well!”

“Walked past and had to go in! What a fabulous accident! Stayed for a whole three courses, knowledgeable staff who understood coeliac needs, great choices of wines by the glass (Negroamaro rosé!) and everything was just so tasty. I’d come back to Newcastle to eat here. It was heaving but service was super.”

“An exceptional restaurant and great experience. Visited for the first time and certainly won’t be the last time on Saturday night for our wedding anniversary. From the moment you walk in your made to feel very welcome with all staff on top of their game. Food was easily some of the best I’ve had for a long while, paired with a great choice of wine! Can’t wait to return”

“We started the evening next door in the Broad Chare beer garden, proper sun trap (and also has some amazing bar snacks) We visited St Vincent for a special occasion and special it was. Always a great atmosphere, friendly staff and top quality food. My lamb chops were amazing, and the better half’s Sea Bass went down a treat. Handy location to potter across Newcastle quayside. We’ll be back.”

“St Vincent is a small cosy wine bar, inspired by the places we fell for while traveling in France and Italy. The sort of place for friends to hang out and enjoy great food and great drinks. The offering is carefully curated; a selection of small plates for sharing, some of their favourite wines from small producers, a few of the cocktail classics they love most plus beautiful hand-crafted charcuterie and cheeses.”
