  “Thanks to Gemini AI for suggesting Fat Hippo. I can safely say we would have missed this amazing burger place if we were just walking around the area. I had the American Burger. The meat was juicy, pickles thick and flavoursome. As I had chosen to have the Tatter Tots as a starter, I had the Slaw as the side. The Cheesy Tater Tots were superb, light fluffy and with the cheese sauce - Amazing. The slaw was a brilliant combination of different cabbages. With most restaurants, the slaw has a heavy acidic/vinegar back taste - Not Here. All the flavour/crunch as slaw should be. We will be back!!”

  “Amazing friendly service from Kurtis and Ellie!! Food was immense and the milkshakes were heaven. I’ve got a couple tricky allergies too and they were beyond accommodating. Frequent visitor to Newcastle from down south and will be back !! 🤩”

  “The burger was incredible, and the chips were hot and delicious, they paired together wonderfully. Amazing service, walked in and immediately felt like I was in a great place and knew I was going to be looked after well. Definitely will come again!”

  “Amazing food! Fantastic service! I was served by Manuel, who was so friendly and welcoming. He took the time to explain some items on the menu to me, as well as giving me some of his recommendations. When the food came, it was hot and fresh and tasted incredible. Thank you Manuel for making my visit so great!”

  “I come to Newcastle every year on holiday. And without fail I will come along to fat hippo. It is my favourite place to get a burger and chips and always have a surprise with dessert. I had the sloppy burger which was absolutely delicious and very filling, i had the dirty fries and Freddy's fingers which is chicken goujons. I finished my meal with a deep fried Mars bar which I've never had before and it was a game changer. The quality of food is delightful the location is brilliant and very different as it set downstairs. The staff are always nice and I just love the place.”

  “Popped in whilst away on work. No problem getting a table. I had the fat hippo burger with fries and purple slaw. The burger itself was great, nice and meaty, juicy and plenty of flavour. I did feel the sides let it down a bit, the fries lacked seasoning and the purple slaw lacked flavour. The service was friendly and attentive, no issues here. The place had a vibrant and warm atmosphere. I would return, just to try some of their other burgers.”

  “Some of the best food I’ve had in Newcastle! We got the Vegan chicken NFC burger, trashbrowns and chicken tenders. The prices are amazing for the portions and the staff are so incredibly friendly. I wanna shout specifically Manuel, Jack and Euan, they made out time there even more fun! I highly recommend this place!!”

  “Went on a Saturday evening without a reservation and was lucky they had a table for 2. Also turned out we'd visited during "Restaurant Week" which made our meals even better value! Both are vegetarian, and they talked through the menu and what could be made veggie instead of vegan. The food was fresh and tasty! I did need salt for the tots though, but they brought that out straight away. Would definitely recommend”
