Customer Review Summary
Friendly table service comes up most, with diners describing servers who joked, made small talk and helped choose from the menu, even on a busy evening. Desserts follow close behind, especially the sticky toffee pudding and a vegan brownie called moist and chewy. Cocktails also earn praise, notably a butterscotch old fashioned and an espresso martini, alongside a scallop starter, lamb chops, mushrooms on toast and a vegetable wellington with creamed sprouts. Opinion on the Sunday roast splits. One reviewer enjoyed it with cocktails, while another praised the pork crackling but found the Yorkshire pudding dry, the vegetables sparse and the lemon and thyme chicken breast served as a leg on the bone. One reviewer called service pretty poor, and another said food took too long after skipping starters. A steak arrived well done rather than medium rare, and a diner who asked for one truffle sauce was charged for two at the end, since no extra charge had been mentioned when they arrived.

“Had table in the open window adjacent to street. The fresh air is nice but it has no view. Ordered two course lunch; Scotch egg and the grid iron steak. They were very nice although my steak was well done as opposed to medium rare. Care; they offer sauces for the steak but do not mention the extra charge. I asked for a truffle sauce, my friend did not order any sauce. Two were brought, we did not send one back as no charge had been mentioned but they were both charged at the end. This left a sour taste; food was good otherwise.”

“Everything was outstanding. My fiancée and I really enjoyed this. The butterscotch old fashioned was incredible. Butcher’s block shared meal was all very good. The sticky toffee pudding is to die for. Henry our server was excellent and super friendly.”

“I visited for a Sunday roast. The welcome was nice. Serving staff appeared in a timely manner to take drinks order and provide menus. I ordered slow cooked pork loin, my friend opted for the lemon and thyme boneless chicken breast. The portion sizes were good and for the most part, it was tasty. Unfortunately the chicken wasn't a breast at all, it was a leg, very much on the bone which my friend found disappointing. The pork was well cooked, with very good crackling. The proportion of vegetables to meat and potatoes could be improved. Other than turnip and green beans, there was 1 over cooked slice of carrot and 1 lonesome sugar snap pea. My friend was lucky enough to get piece of broccoli with theirs. It would have balanced the meal better to have less meat/potatoes and a little more veg. Neither of us ate much of the Yorkshire pudding as it was quite dry and there wasn't any gravy left out of the splash provided. Great location, glad I've tried it for food but for the price there's way better places for a good roast.”

“Me and a few boys on a stag managed to get a table last minute walking by. Fantastic meal and service. We got the scallop starter which was sensational and the lamb chops pictured were succulent. Vast menu. O and possibly the best espresso martini I have ever had.”
