About Rio Brazilian Steakhouse
Rio Brazilian Steakhouse is a Brazilian restaurant at 95 Quayside in Newcastle Upon Tyne, serving meat in the rodízio style. Gaucho chefs bring the cuts to the table and carve them there, with servings that keep coming. Each guest gets a beer mat with yes and no sides, so flipping it signals whether to bring more meat or hold off. Picanha and garlic cap of rump are among the meats on offer. A salad bar with garlic mushrooms, canapés and prawns sits alongside the carving, and cooked pineapple is brought to the table as well. The cocktail list is extensive. The restaurant is open daily, with lunch and dinner served as separate services.

Customer Review Summary
Diners return most for the tableside rodizio meat, which keeps coming until a beer mat is flipped to say stop. Picanha and garlic cap of rump are singled out, with the pork belly and beef that melts in the mouth close behind, and one reviewer tried chicken hearts for the first time. The salad bar earns praise for garlic mushrooms, canapés and huge prawns, and one reviewer suggests saving room for the meat, though another wanted more variety in the salad bar and drinks. Reviewers describe friendly, attentive service, including a carver who shared facts about the meat, and a solo diner in town for work felt welcome. The sharpest complaint is from a birthday party that missed out on sirloin, ribs and sausage, sat in a freezing room with a bottle propping the back door open, and had to go to the bar for drinks menus and orders before leaving without dessert. One diner found the steak a little rare. Another recalls staff bringing cooked pineapple for a six year old who liked it.

“Food was outstanding although we didnt get the "full rio experience" meat wise.. no sirloin, no ribs, no sausage. This was for Our Daughters 21st birthday tea. Restaurant was freezing! Door opened at the back with a bottle wedging the door open. My Husband on 2 occasions had to get up & asked for drinks menu then had to get up & order at the bar!! Then asked if we'd like dessert, given the menu. Then got sick of waiting to order!! So we paid our bill & left. Not a nice experience for Our Daughter for her 21st as this was the only place she actually enjoys going to. We've been several times before but it was very underrated last night.”

“When my 6 year old nephew discovered he liked the cooked pineapple, the waiting staff made a special effort to bring him some. He loved the whole experience. And as for us adults, my husband and I always enjoy it at Rio”

“A great evening and experience for my wife's birthday. The food was amazing albeit the steak a little rare for my liking but loved but my wife. Salad bar is top class. “Food was brilliant, really couldn't fault it. The meat just kept coming as long as you wanted it. Chicken hearts was a mew experience and had already eaten two of them as the wife told me what they were. But the beef melted in your mouth, the pork belly was so flavoursome. The salad bar had an excellent selection. The staff were attentive and professional, we will definitely be back.”
