About Willi's Cafe Jesmond.

Breakfast leads the menu at Willi's Cafe Jesmond, a cafe on Clayton Road in Jesmond, Newcastle. Full English breakfasts anchor the offering, joined by sausage and fried egg rolls, a bacon and sausage sandwich, and avocado dishes that include an avocado halloumi bagel and an avocado breakfast served with sourdough. The kitchen also sends out beef and steak dishes with a pepper sauce option, so a table splitting between a fry-up and a main course can order from the same list. Breakfast tea and hot chocolate cover the drinks side. The cafe works on a walk-in basis rather than reservations, and it opens daily. A step-free entrance suits visitors with mobility needs, while high chairs on request and a baby changing table make room for families arriving with young children and babies. Dogs are welcome, which matters if a morning stop follows a walk. Catering is handled alongside the day-to-day service in the cafe.

Customer Review Summary

Breakfast is the draw, with diners singling out the full English and Eggs Royale as delightful, and the breakfast burger, avocado halloumi bagel and sausage and fried egg roll also named. Pancakes and cakes come close behind. Friendly, smiling staff come up repeatedly, and one longtime local keeps returning with their kids. Value against portion size is the main complaint. One diner who asked for a full breakfast without tomato, beans or mushrooms got two bits of bacon, one sausage and a hash brown, and another found the food simpler than expected for the price. Others report a soggy sandwich, soup with little flavour, a steak ordered rare that arrived tough and chewy, and an avocado breakfast missing its sourdough without warning. One visitor describes a staff member touching piercings and hair while handling cutlery. One parent notes staff happily filled a baby's bottle with water and brought a highchair on request.

“Unfortunately, wasn’t too impressed with my experience at Willi’s. Been eyeing it up for ages as always looked welcoming, and I’m a big fan of food spots in Jesmond. The food we had was underwhelming. My sandwich was a bit soggy, and the soup didn’t have much flavour. The man working at the time was also not very personable. He was quite rude and made it seem like we were an inconvenience by coming in, which already ruined the atmosphere a little. It’s a shame! Maybe we just caught them on a bad day.”

“Very overpriced for the serving sizes and didn’t get what I asked for .Ordered a full breakfast for £14 without tomato’s, beans or mushrooms and was given 2 bits of bacon one single sausage and a hash brown, the bacon and sausage sandwich came with one bit of bacon and one sausage halved, asked for a fried egg and hash brown sandwich and only got 2 bits of egg in it .Only thing would recommend would be the pancakes as they were spot on. Will not be returning here”

“Love Willi’s. I went to school around the corner and have been coming here for 25 years, and bring my kids here too. Solid quality food, and always a smile from friendly staff. A well established Jesmond institution.”

“we came here for breakfast and ordered two drinks, the avocado halloumi bagel with hot honey and the porridge with berries and honey (they unfortunately didn’t have apple crumble anymore). we were a bit confused about the ordering at first, because there was note about their self-service policy. the food was a bit simpler than expected considering the price, but still a nice visit.”
  • Patricia Jorgensen
“Just had worst steak ever. I asked for rare. It was well cooked. It was tough and chewy. On a positive note rest of food Ive had there is excellent (Pepper sauce very bland)”
