Customer Review Summary
The complaints centre on service and consistency. Two reviewers describe the waiter and waitress as rude and dismissive, with orders arriving wrong and requests ignored. One says fried eggs asked to be runny came hard and the sourdough untoasted, and the music was too loud. Another found the chipotle chicken sandwich basic, with little chicken and lettuce that looked tired, and the space small and squashy.

“Popped in with the Mrs from hospital as son was in theatre getting surgery. Honestly didn’t realise what was so weird about asking for some sourdough bread with fried eggs?! Considering the weird funny looks I was getting from the gent and lady behind the till. There are a number of reasons on why I would most definitely NOT recommend this place. One being: I specially asked for my fried eggs to be runny but I received them hard?? Two being: My sourdough was not toasted nor was I asked it to be toasted (I mean you would pretty much expect it to be toasted especially with eggs)?? Three being: I asked if their food was halal. He said the chicken was only halal but he seemed uncomfortable me asking a simple question which I’ve got every right to ask. Four being: (biggest reason). When I addressed the lady waiter about my issue with the eggs being too hard, she said she can’t serve it runny even though she literally actively witnessed my order getting took. Which is a very stupid excuse. Obviously could not accept the fact that she was wrong. Guessing she was the owners wife. Music was also far too loud for a cafe. Found the owner and lady not very welcoming from the minute we walked in but I overlooked it. Definitely should have walked out there and then. Give it a miss for sure. You won’t be missing out”

“We have been coming here for just over two weeks whilst we've been staying in hospital, the cafe is beautiful and a lovely place to be for a hour or two. The coffee is perfect and the breakfast sarnies are perfect. The prices for the area are really good and the service is brilliant. It's a family run cafe with people that are friendly and very caring. We'll miss the place when we go home but anytime we're back in Newcastle we will definitely visit. Plus the cafe is dog friendly, which is a massive added bonus!”

“Absolutely loved this café. The atmosphere is beautiful, the service is amazing, and you can really tell they care about quality. The food was fresh and delicious — from the bread to the chicken, everything tasted high quality and freshly made. The coffee was one of the best parts; you could genuinely taste how good the espresso was. The drinks, food, and overall experience were all 10/10. The staff were also so welcoming and served everything so nicely. I would definitely recommend this place and will 100% be coming back!”

“The vibe of the place was dead. It was small and squashy. The owners just seemed miserable and not very welcoming. I ordered the chipotle chicken sandwich which was just a very basic sandwich for £8! The lettuce in there didn’t look fresh and didn’t have much chicken in and the bread wasn’t that well toasted. If you want something basic that you could make at home for a fraction of the price then it’s your place, but for me I wouldn’t go again!”

“Terrible decision choosing to visit this café — we definitely won’t be returning and would not recommend it to anyone. The waiter and waitress were extremely rude, dismissive, and seemed to have no interest in providing good customer service. Simple requests and instructions were ignored, and the overall attitude towards customers was unprofessional and uncaring. A pleasant dining experience starts with respectful service, and unfortunately this place completely failed in that regard. Very disappointing experience overall. We were really disappointed with our experience. We gave very clear and simple instructions for our food order, but both the waiter and waitress failed to listen properly. The meals arrived wrong, with several requests completely ignored, and when we pointed it out, it felt like they weren’t paying attention or taking responsibility”
