About Société Café Bar
Freshly made pizzas with thin, crisp bases and unusual topping combinations anchor the menu at Société Café Bar, a café and bar on Grey Street in Newcastle Upon Tyne. They come in a small 10 inch size, and meal deals pair one with a soft drink at lunch or a wine or beer in the evening. Cakes, brownies and pastries sit alongside tea and coffee, with a flat white among the coffee options, while bottled beer, wine and cocktails cover the bar side. Mornings bring breakfast dishes such as American pancakes with berries, though bacon is no longer served. The place opens daily and seating is limited, so reservations are recommended. Dogs are welcome inside, and a terrace gives the option of eating outdoors. A step-free entrance means visitors with mobility needs can get in without stairs.

Customer Review Summary
Pizzas anchor nearly every account, described as freshly made with thin, crispy bases and unusual topping combinations: the fig and walnut, the ring of fire, one with pomegranate, goats cheese and balsamic, and the Pleased to Meet You and Mango Fandango draw particular praise. Desserts follow close behind, with one reviewer singling out a pistachio dessert and another a croissant filled with strawberries and Nutella, while a brownie with tea is described as reason enough to stop in. Several mention the relaxed, cosy European feel, friendly staff and dog friendly rooms, and one calls it a good spot for studying or catching up on work. Coffee splits opinion: some call it outstanding or decent, though one found a flat white closer to a cappuccino and weak, and another asked for a teaspoon to be brought with it. Smaller gripes recur too, no charging points, no toilets, bacon dropped from the menu, and pancakes judged merely ok.

“Lovely service, such a good atmosphere. Good price for good value. I had a delicious chai latte and my friend had a yummy hot chocolate with the perfect amount of whip cream.”

“I've found this little lovely place in Grey Street. Very European 🇪🇺 I felt like home. I liked it the atmosphere cosy and romantic, and the terrazza, but it is still cold for me. I had a nice and creamy cappuccino, with this scrumptious croissant filled with fresh strawberries and Nutella. To die for. The only thing I would say to them is to bring a tea spoon when cappuccino, or coffee is served.”

“The only reason I didn't give 5 stars for the food is because they've stopped serving bacon! Yes, really! If they did a full English breakfast, they'd rake it in! They do make incredible pizzas, which I'd recommend. Aside from that, Nathan, Abbey and Kasha are really friendly. A very relaxing atmosphere and I love their new decoration. Their coffee is pretty decent too. They're also dog friendly. Would definitely recommend visiting ☕❤️”

“Their pistachio dessert was incredibly delicious and their coffee was outstanding. Not only that, but the prices were also very reasonable and the atmosphere was fantastic. Highly recommend!”
