Customer Review Summary
The Sunday roast draws the most consistent praise, reviewers describing generous portions, a well loved cauliflower cheese side, and one regular calling it "beautiful" on weekly dog walk visits. Close behind, the steak sharing platter and its accompanying dessert platter (brownies, waffles, chocolate truffles) impressed a Valentine's Day party enough to take leftovers home, and one diner called the ploughman's the best they'd ever had. Several mention staff boxing up uneaten food without being asked. Complaints recur around service pace, several noting slow drink orders and one table left an hour without drinks; a vegan family found only three portions of Nut Loaf available for a Sunday party. A few flag pricing against portion size, citing a £7.50 soup that was "a ladle full" and a £19.50 gammon called mediocre. One reviewer reports feeling unwell after their meal. One party noted they were glad they'd booked ahead as the restaurant filled quickly. Decor is repeatedly called warm, though one visitor described dust and stacked chairs in the toilets.

“Amazing venue, lovely staff and top quality food, went yesterday and ordered the ploughman's, got to say it is the best one I have ever had, and the quality of the food is exceptional. I will definitely be returning for another one! The staff also went above and beyond and their customer service was amazing, thank you all.”

“We called in mid-afternoon for a late lunch/early dinner. Staff were friendly and helpful, there were no other customers in the bar area so it was very quiet. We just ordered a main course, the gammon and the salmon, which arrived in about 30 minutes, quite a reasonable time to wait, we thought. The gammon was fine, nothing to complain about but nothing special. It was fairly ordinary so we thought it was a little overpriced, though in fairness it was as described on the menu. The salmon had amazing flavour though, and served with perfectly cooked al dente calabrese (as opposed to the raw stuff barely dipped in boiling water that most chefs chuck on a plate.) In the end we decided to go for a dessert too, the strawberry cheesecake (to die for) and the Blondie (stodgy and awful). One thing that we would have appreciated is for someone to have come and ask if everything was OK during our meal. In fact it was, but would have been nice for someone to check. In summary, spend £80, overall an enjoyable meal and we hope to return soon.”
