Customer Review Summary
The single most frequently praised draw at Widecombe Fair is the Sunday roast, with several reviewers singling out the roast beef cooked to a pink finish as a standout. Close behind, diners describe the food overall as "lovely" and "absolutely beautiful," and the kitchen draws repeat visits; one party already comes in every Sunday. Service earns near-unanimous praise, repeatedly described as friendly, kind, and attentive by the front-of-house team. The picture is not entirely uniform. One reviewer left disappointed after ordering a steak medium rare and receiving medium, and felt the price ran high for the plate. Another described the dining room as overrun by unsupervised children running and screaming for over an hour, with staff doing nothing to intervene, and objected to a 10 percent service charge added to the bill without being asked. Most accounts, however, close on warm, concrete moments, from a birthday meal to a familiar greeting at the door, that keep regulars returning week after week.

“Food was fine. Service was fine. The restaurant area is like a kids' playground. Kids running around for over an hour while we were in there. They were getting on everyone's nerves, especially when one of them kept screaming. The staff did nothing, even though they had to dodge the kids as they brought food out. Not my Idea of a nice evening meal. Then to cap it all they add 10% onto the bill for a tip without even asking you. Don't they pay the staff for doing what they're supposed do?”
