Customer Review Summary
Reviewers return above all for the huge portions, which come up in nearly every review, with the Stilton and steak pie, chips and toad in the hole singled out among the mains. Starters draw praise too, including the sausage roll, pork belly bites, big mozzarella sticks and creamy garlic wild mushrooms, and the pulled beef loaded fondue chunky chips earn a mention as a side. One diner says the portions were so large that everyone who ordered a starter struggled to finish their main, and another says dessert was out of the question. The gluten free options pleased one party, and a dog owner praised the sausages that his dog enjoyed. Staff are repeatedly called friendly and the service quick, with the salmon also described as cooked through. The criticism is narrower: one reviewer found the stroganoff very average and suggested smaller portions and tweaks to the cooking, while another said a table of five roast dinners looked good but scored only about two out of ten for taste. A diner also notes the road to the pub is full of potholes in both directions.

“Great wholesome food. Portions are huge. Two people had the salmon which was cooked through and great quality. Stroganoff was very average, would not choose again. Staff, fantastic, atmosphere superb. Well worth a trip for good ho.e cooked food. Could easily be elevated with smaller portions, and a few tweeks to the cooking.”

“If quantity is what you're want, fair enough. If you want nice, then not so much. Out of the 5 roast dinners we had, only may 92 year old farther gave it more than a 2 out of 10. He said 4! Looked good and thats about it! 1st and last visit.”
