About The Welsh House Neath Restaurant & Bar
Welsh cooking anchors the menu at The Welsh House Neath Restaurant & Bar, a Welsh restaurant on Croft Rd in Neath, where cawl and leek-based sauces such as leek and cockle sit alongside Selwyn's Cockle Popcorn and leek and cheddar Welsh cakes to open a meal. Mini tin loaves come with Pembrokeshire oils, and the wider list runs to roughly 156 dishes, taking in garlic bread, chicken wings and a salmon fish cake to start and mains from a lamb platter and steak and ale to pizza and prawns with bread. Sunday brings a sit-down lunch, with a Sunday dinner for two carved from three meats and served with a selection of veg. This is a table service room, with guests seated by a host and orders taken at the table, and a wait for food and for plates to be cleared is common. Dogs are welcome, and the doors open daily.

Customer Review Summary
The Welsh plates draw the warmest write-ups: a Sunday dinner for two with three meats that several call tender and tasty, with a bowl of cawl rated ten out of ten close behind, and a salmon fish cake in leek and cockle sauce singled out as exquisite. Others mention garlic bread and chicken wings, a lamb platter and steak and ale, food arriving quickly and very hot, and fresh ingredients at what one calls a reasonable price. Service splits the room sharply. Where some describe prompt, friendly attention from a new manager and staff, others report barely being served all evening, a lost order that left a meal over an hour late, having to fetch their own highchair, and sitting roughly twenty minutes with a finished plate uncleared and no sauces offered. One diner liked the prawns and bread but found the pizza, however good it looked, disappointing.

“Went there today and personally I thought it was okay, The person serving us was super nice. I got pizza and prawns and i really liked the prawns and the bread it came with, But the pizza as good as it looked wasn't really that nice. Most of the things on the menu are quite expensive but the pizza was actually a good price in my opinion, it was £10 and it is quite large. Didn't get dessert but kinda wish i did lol. Anyways i do recommend going cuz it's not bad or anything i just personally didn't enjoy :]”

“We visited today because the restaurant looked inviting, but the service was unfortunately poor. We had to find our own highchair, and our meal took over an hour to arrive due to a lost order. When the food did come, the quality was …”

“Had a lovely sit down Sunday lunch in a relaxed atmosphere, the staff Eva and a young lad was friendly and helpful with prompt service, We had the Sunday dinner for 2 with 3 meats which was all tender and tasty, I enjoyed the variety of veg but my husband would have liked mash potato and peas as part of the meal as he didn't like the other veg, we will definitely return”

“We visited The Welsh House in Neath a couple of days ago and had a lovely experience. The food was amazing — I started with the salmon fish cake, and the leek and cockle sauce was absolutely exquisite. My friend had the leek and cheese …”

“This review is from a while ago. Around easter time. We didn't originally bother saying anything but after trying my 3rd welsh house on Friday and it being just as bad, other than the staff being more efficient, I thought it's about time …”
