About Greyhound Inn
A Thursday-night quiz gives the Greyhound Inn a regular fixture for locals, and this village pub on Seahill Rd in Saughall, Chester, welcomes dogs alongside their owners. The bar pours a selection of beers, and the kitchen works from a compact list of around a dozen dishes, with Sunday lunch bringing back repeat visitors week to week. Food is not served on Mondays and Tuesdays, and the kitchen's last service falls early in the day, so meals are worth planning around. The doors themselves open daily, covering the pub and bar side of things beyond the food hours.

Customer Review Summary
Sunday lunch is what brings reviewers back most often, described as fantastic and good value, with one regular pair noting the kitchen swaps roast potatoes for mash to suit a small appetite and a sherry waiting on the table. Close behind is the beer, with several praising the selection and the garden in the village setting, plus a Thursday quiz that comes up repeatedly. Staff are called friendly and helpful throughout, and one party held a wake here, recalling a hot chilli and chips buffet followed by Victoria sponge and mince pies. Dogs and children are mentioned as welcome. The clearest complaint comes from a caller who rang to check whether sandwiches were served early in the week and was met with a blunt "we don't do food on a Monday and Tuesday", enough that they said they would not visit. One reviewer also flags that last food service is early.

“An unpretentious village pub with good food (which was very good value), nice staff and a pleasant ambience. Last service for food is early, so be aware of that when planning a trip.”

“My mum and I go regularly for the Sunday lunch. There’s always a sherry on the table waiting for us. There’s staff and the chef, accommodate my mums small appetite and provide her with mash potatoes as she struggles with roasters. The bar …”

“I saw a photo on their website which showed Monday and Tuesday - Sandwiches only, however the website stated no food on a Monday and Tuesday so I phoned just to clarify if they had sandwiches or not on these days. I was met with a sharp 'We don't do food on a Monday and Tuesday' No sorry about that or some other customer friendly tone so needless to say we will never spend our time or money in that establishment!!”
