Customer Review Summary
Reviewers return most for the Sunday roast beef dinner, praising the vegetables served separately and piping hot, with bread and butter pudding and garlic mushrooms on toast mentioned alongside. Close behind are the shin of beef, described as melting in the mouth, and the homemade steak pie, which two reviewers call the best they have eaten. The pâté and squid starters also draw praise, and diners describe friendly, polite staff, a traditional, homely dining room and well kept real ales. Several call the prices reasonable. The main complaint comes from one Sunday lunch reviewer who found cold soggy veg, undercooked roast potatoes and two slices of chewy beef after waiting over an hour in a nearly empty room, then described the manager as argumentative on a follow-up call. Another diner wanted an extra slice of beef, and one tall visitor cracked his head on a low door frame when leaving, which onlookers found funny.

“Absolutely amazing food. Best steak pie I've ever eaten, no problem swapping peas to other veg ( broccoli and roasted carrots). Will definitely return”

“Very disappointed.. Sunday lunch consisted of cold soggy veg.. under cooked roast potatoes and 2 slices of chewy beef. When I got home I rung asked to speak to the manager I asked him politely had he changed the chef ? Straight away he was argumentative and rude.. alls I can say is NEVER AGAIN. Post edited ! We only ate some of the meal not ALL we only ate that because we were famished after waiting over an hour to be served even though the place was empty.. I'm not interested whether the beef was from Timbuktu. It was tough. The whole meal was a complete waste of money..”

“On arrival staff were very welcoming, starters were amazing I had garlic mushrooms on toast and partner had the soup of the day. Main course we both had the Roast Beef Dinner served beautifully with vegetables separately. Highly recommended thank you all so much for a lovely Special Sunday lunch.”

“Absolutely stunning place, I called in for a pint of lovely real ale the other day and decided to book a table for my 65th birthday meal with my wife today, We were definitely NOT disappointed, the atmosphere and decor really suits the venue, the staff are impeccably polite and helpful, The whole venue is clean as a whistle including the toilet facilities, The menu is just perfect without being vast, my wife chose the Pâté starter and I had the Squid, both were delicious...Then for mains my wife had the shin of beef which melted in the mouth, I chose the homemade Steak pie which is almost certainly the best pie I have ever had in a pub meal, I could go on raving but let's go to dessert...wife's choice homemade Syrup pudding of which she was in heaven with...and mine was an absolutely delicious Mint aero cheesecake to not only cleanse the pallette but sweeten the blandest of taste buds, followed by two sumptuously made house coffees..... OH and of course I sampled several pints of their well kept delicious real ales too, 100% recommend this super pub to everyone...but don't go too often otherwise we won't be able to get a table.... Also a big shout out to the owner who we had a lovely chat with...and all his brilliant staff, you will be hard pressed to find a better place than this ❤️”

“What a fabulous find on the way back from a day in Colwyn Bay. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was absolutely delicious and beautifully homemade whilst being reasonably priced. What a little gem. We will certainly be returning next time we are in the area.”
