About Old Beams
Old Beams is a pub in Milton Keynes on Paxton Cres, set in a barn-style building with exposed beams and old-style wood details. The pub garden is bordered by a couple of ponds, and visitors can bring their dogs along. The kitchen pairs classic pub dishes like fish and chips and a Sunday roast with steak frites and a burger. At the bar, McMullen beers include Country Bitter and a Mild. Asahi is also served on tap.

Customer Review Summary
Meals draw the most praise, from a Sunday roast called absolutely delicious to steak frites, a burger and fish and chips that one group found well-made and well-presented, with several noting plates arrived piping hot. The lamb was delicious for one table. Close behind are the McMullen beers, with two reviewers praising the Country Bitter and one also the Mild. Reviewers also describe an airy barn look with beams, a sunny garden bordered by ponds, and friendly, welcoming staff, including a waitress who was great with a three year old. The complaints are few but specific: the beef was a bit tough, the gluten free chicken burger portion for a coeliac diner was very small, and one bathroom was clean but smelled bad. Several diners plan to return, and one birthday table found a Happy Birthday sign waiting and was offered a first drink on the house.

“This is the second time we have eaten at the Old Beams. As before, we were looked after by Zoe, the food was lovely and the plates were piping hot. This restaurant is definitely on our saved list. Quality service, quality food and restaurant. We would recommend to anyone if you want tasty food and good service. We will definitely be back in a few weeks and bringing family with us - worth 10/10.”

“My partner took me to the Old Beams in Shenley Lodge for a birthday treat today - Zoe looked after us on and after our arrival (from start to finish). The food was lovely, piping hot, and well presented. We have booked up to come back after our holiday break in a months time to round it off. Really great atmosphere, lovely surroundings and top rate service. We would recommend to anyone wanting a quality meal, quality service and great staff. Definitely worth five stars.”

“A lovely pub full of character. You have to drive through a housing estate to get to it and then It just appears. Air conditioned, which mattered on a 32 degree day like today. Also, they serve Asahi, which is unusual and a very welcome pint. A nice pub garden too. The car park is just over the road. A bit tight but has about 30 spaces.”

“Drop by as noted that it serves McMullen beers. I used to live in Hertford, so this was a major reason for dropping by as gas been quite some years since I tasted McMullen brews. The Best Bitter Country was fab, so decided I'd stay for another but this time the Mild and yet another great brew. Having just been to Northampton Beer Festival, these two brews would have been in the awards reckoning. Certainly be back for these brews. Pub as name suggests is made unique by it's airy barn look with beams. Sunny outside area with plenty of seating & bonus a couple of ponds bordering. Did not stay for food, so cannot comment. However, it is set out as a dining pub rather than drinking. Recommend if in area visit. If not, visit.”

“Came here several times whilst working away and it’s absolutely stunning! The food is fresh and cooked well, no microwave specials here. Great menu well done and the staff are lovely. The beer is top notch. I didn’t know McMullen Brewery was a thing but the Country Bitter is a phenomenal pint…….. or 5! Just a 20 minute walk from the Premiere Inn at Furzon Lakes…………. And I’m so glad I made the walk. Can’t recommend this place enough.”
