Customer Review Summary
Friendly staff are the most repeated draw, with reviewers describing the team as happy, chatty and kind, including one who helped two boys order their drinks at the bar and another who explained the barcode ordering on the tables. The food comes close behind. Diners name the calamari and halloumi starters, lasagna, ribs that fell off the bone, a pea falafel with a Moroccan chicken skewer, and chicken wings, and several call it good value. Reviewers also mention a relaxing atmosphere after the refurbishment, a garden with new tables, a good choice of beers and a welcome for dogs. The one critical review describes a birthday meal where the children's starters arrived as mains, the fish and chips was soggy, the pineapple on the chicken was still frozen, the nachos were swimming in oil and the portion of peas was far too large. The kitchen did replace the fish, and that reviewer found it much better. Another reviewer who missed the kitchen's order cutoff was told it would stay open to make their meal.

“We popped in for an impromptu drink and small bite to eat. We were so impressed with the hospitality and attentiveness of the staff, and to top it off were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the selection of food in the summer sharing platter we enjoyed for lunch. A special mention to boss man Harry, and Danni, who made our experience an excellent one.”

“We just popped in for a last minute lunch after shopping. I have to say, my meal was incredible. The pea falafel was delicious I recommend having it on the side with the Moroccan chicken skewer. It was by far the nicest meal I've had in a long time. Service was very friendly and welcoming Sophie & Dan were professional, kind and made our visit worth it, it had a nice relaxed atmosphere, I felt quite peaceful coming in here. We absolutely will be back again with nore of the family 😀”

“Just moved to the area and looking for a local pub. Love the atmosphere it’s a lovely big pub. And the manager I believe Dan was very helpful with us. We were unable to order before the kitchen closed but he was so kind and told us the kitchen would stay open to make our order. Absolutely outstanding customer service and friendly faces throughout the pub. Worth a visit for sure.”

“When we arrived, the restaurant was virtually empty, with only one other table occupied. Our table was dirty, and the booth was very uncomfortable. We ordered a starter and main course for each of the children. When the food arrived, the starters had been served as mains, meaning the two children ended up with four meals between them 😑. The fish from the fish and chips was soggy, the pineapple on the chicken dish was still frozen solid, and the nachos were swimming in oil. We spoke to the staff, who apologised for the mix-up with the children's meals, explaining that there had been a misunderstanding. However, it was never explained to us at the till that the free kids' meal offer did not include starters. As a result, we ended up paying for a children's meal that we believed was supposed to be free. The kitchen did make a replacement fish dish, which was much better. We don't understand why it wasn't prepared to that standard the first time. The amount of peas served was absolutely ridiculous. One portion of peas would have been enough for half of five plates. Portion control definitely needs looking at. We came here to celebrate a birthday but left feeling incredibly disappointed. All of us agreed that we would never return.”
