About Zaytoni
Zaytoni is a shawarma restaurant in Manchester, at 127A Oxford Rd. Chicken and lamb shawarma come as wraps or rolls, and the same meat is also served on chips. Rice-based options include a chicken shawarma bowl with salad and sauces, and the Lamb Messy Bowl is a separate bowl dish built around lamb. Kebab and falafel sit alongside the shawarma, and burgers and pizza give the menu a fast food side for anyone who wants something other than Arabic dishes. All of it is served on a halal menu.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often return for the chicken and lamb shawarmas, called massive, filling and packed with flavour, with a student lunch crowd around Oxford Road. Close behind is shawarma on chips, singled out as a favourite, along with the Lamb Messy Bowl, whose lamb one reviewer found tender, and a chicken shawarma rice bowl with salad and sauces. Portions and value come up repeatedly, and several describe quick service and friendly staff even when the place is busy. The criticism is sharper but less common. One reviewer called the chicken shawarma dry, with little flavour, and described the person adding vegetables and sauce as rude when questioned. Another received four shawarmas that were badly burnt and could not reach the shop by phone to ask for a refund or replacement. A third found the shawarma standard, with not much meat in the wraps. Even so, one diner closed with a large portion of chips, a drink and a generous shawarma with plenty of salad options.

“If I could give this place zero stars, I would. First of all, their shawarma is nothing like what a proper chicken shawarma should be. As an Arab person and someone who is very well travelled and has had shawarma in many different places, I can genuinely say this was the worst shawarma I have ever had. I didn’t even know shawarma could be this dry and have so little substance. If you want a basic, dry chicken wrap, then this might be the place for you, but I definitely wouldn’t call it real shawarma. It lacked the flavour, juiciness and quality you would expect from proper shawarma. The service was also very disappointing. The man adding the vegetables and sauce was extremely rude to me and spoke in an aggressive and disrespectful way when I asked questions. It made the whole experience very uncomfortable and unpleasant. I would never go back and would not recommend this place. They seriously need friendlier staff and should actually serve proper shawarma instead of a dry chicken wrap with barely any substance or flavour.”

“Hello, today I ordered four shawarmas from your shop. Unfortunately, they are badly burnt and not fit to eat. I am very disappointed with the quality of the food. I tried calling your phone number to inform you about this issue, but the number doesn’t seem to be working. Could you please let me know how we can resolve this issue? I would appreciate a refund or a replacement, as the food is not edible. Thank you.”

“Great place for Arabic food such as Shawarmas. But they also have burgers and other fast food items. Prices are very reasonable. The food is halal and tasted delicious. Staff were welcoming and helpful especially the gentleman who prepared the Shawarma rolls. The place was busy with a good throughput but the waiting was minimal to get the food. Seems like a very popular place for students and locals. Would highly recommend.”

“Visited Zaytouni for a shawarma and really enjoyed it. The place was very clean, the staff were friendly, and the service was quick despite being busy. For around £7.50, I got a drink, a large portion of chips and a generous shawarma with plenty of salad options. Great value, huge portions and delicious food!”

“My first time visiting Zaytoni and I was pleasantly surprised. The food was great for the price and the portion size was more than enough to satisfy my deep hunger. I went for the chicken shawarma rice bowl which comes with fresh salad, sauces and a sizeable portion of tasty chicken and rice. The workers there are pleasant and the food came swiftly. I'll definitely be back.”
