Quick info
About Azuma
Azuma is a Korean barbecue restaurant in Manchester at 73 Cavendish St, serving hot pot and Korean BBQ as a 2-hour all-you-can-order buffet cooked at the table. Guests order from a sheet of meats, seafood and vegetables, and the raw items arrive at the table to cook. The team explains how ordering works and demonstrates how to use the grill. Each table picks two soup broths for the hot pot. The order sheet also asks for two dips, chosen from a wide range of sauces to mix and match. Dessert is included in the sitting, and guests can stay to finish their food after ordering closes. Drinks are ordered separately, with refills available. A private dining room is available for groups.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often praise the cook-it-yourself, all you can eat meat, with thinly sliced, well-seasoned pork and beef that cook quickly at the table, alongside prawns, squid and fresh vegetables. Close behind are the hot pot soup bases, which reviewers describe as rich and spicy, with a choice of two flavours, plus a wide spread of dipping sauces to mix and match. Several call the portions generous and the value strong, and egg fried rice and dessert come up among the extras. One reviewer found a few items, such as the squid, a bit salty. The sharpest criticism comes from one diner who found it closer to a generic BBQ joint than authentic Korean, citing missing Korean side dishes, weak marinades, a limited sauce offering and poor ventilation, and who was asked to move tables mid-meal to fit a larger group. Another notes the barbecue smell lingers for the rest of the day. Staff are repeatedly described as friendly and fast, and first-timers mention a server explaining the ordering and demonstrating how to use the grill.

“The staff were very friendly and helpful! Once we were seated at our table they explained to us how the menus and ordering works; when our food arrived they demonstrated how to use the grill, very accommodating and helpful for people who have not had kbbq before. This restaurant is an all you can eat experience, so you pay a set price for 2 hours of as much food as you like, including dessert!! I highly recommend coming here, ill definitely return<3”

“One of the best places in Manchester! I had the kbbq and the meat was well-marinaded and so tender and juicy, you cannot stop eating it. The dipping sauces were great too and there was generally a good variety in the menu. You have 2h of unlimited ordering, after which you can't order but you can stay to finish what you are eating. The amount you can eat in 2h, and considering it is good quality meat and seafood is very worth the 28 GBP per person price.”

“I was so impressed with the variety this restaurant offers! From different soup bases to a wide selection of meats, seafood, and fresh vegetables, there’s something for everyone. I especially loved that they had many dipping sauces to mix and match — it really adds a personal touch to the meal. The portion sizes were generous, and the prices are very reasonable for the quality you get. It feels like great value without compromising on taste or service. I left feeling full, happy, and definitely planning to come back again soon!”

“I found this to be an extremely disappointing BBQ experience, far from authentic Korean. It felt more like a generic BBQ joint than a proper Korean restaurant. Key elements like Korean side dishes were completely absent, and both the marinades and meat quality were subpar. They even had a limited sauce offering. Ventilation was very poor. We all smelled like bbq after dining in for an hour! To make matters worse, the service was frustrating. We were told to move tables mid-meal to accommodate a larger group, which felt very inconsiderate.”
