About M8 Hot Pot

M8 Hot Pot is a hot pot restaurant at 175 Cheetham Hill Rd in Manchester, run as an all-you-can-eat buffet where each diner gets an individual hot pot and a Korean-style BBQ grill at the table. That setup lets everyone in a party cook their own mix of broth and grilled food. Robot waiters bring food to the table. The buffet covers meats, seafood and vegetables, with beef short rib among the meats, and sushi is available too. A wide range of sauces comes with guidance on how to create your own. The kitchen is halal. Meals finish with ice cream and sesame balls.

Customer Review Summary

Diners most often praise the all-you-can-eat hot pot, served in individual pots so nobody has to agree on a broth. The rich, savory broth gets repeated mention, including a fish maw and chicken soup and halal-friendly beef broths, alongside thin cut, tender meats. Close behind is the Korean-style BBQ grill at each place, with beef short rib, rump, sirloin, prawns, scallops and squid, plus sushi and robot waiters that bring some dishes to the table. Staff are repeatedly called friendly and quick to explain how things work, and one reviewer singles out a potato stuffed prawn wrapped in noodles. The main complaint comes from one disappointed party who found the selection limited for the cost and the refills of food and sauces slow enough to eat into their timed seating, with a cashier who brushed off their concerns. A few others call the extras pricey, and one notes weekends get packed and suggests calling ahead. Several close the meal with the free ice cream and sesame balls.

“This is my favorite restaurant in all of Manchester. I've been going almost biweekly for about a year now, and I can't believe I forgot to leave a review all this time! Brilliant hot pot selection, with thin cut & tender meats, great seafood and noodle selection (crab balls, all kinds of tofu, fresh fish, etc.), and one of my favorite soups I've ever tasted!! The flavor is rich and savory, and the spice level (I get Extra Spicy) is perfect! And I eat food hotter than the sun. To top it off, it's all halal friendly, with beef broths! They recently upped the price to about 35 quid per person when you include the tax, but I'd still say it's well worth it considering everything is all you can eat. And you get the whole experience, sushi, rice, noodles, all the meat & seafood you could want, and even a dessert bar. Service is quite quick too, you get stuff minutes within ordering with these robot waiters, and the buffet bar is also open immediately. The only thing is it can get packed on weekends, but so long as you call ahead about an hour (or possibly wait in line for up to 15 minutes) you will get a seat. So long as I am in Manchester, I will be coming again, so I can only hope the service will be just as fantastic as it has been!”

“It's a really lovely concept of being able to have unlimited buffet and individual hot pot and (Korean style) BBQ grill per person, and a huge variety of sauces and guidance how to create your own. Sushi is also available. They use those cute robots to bring some of the food to your table which is very interesting! The variety of seafood, meat and vegetable is very generous, invluding prawns, scallops, squid, salmon, beef short rib, rump, sirloin, enoki and oyster mushroom, and the usual range gor hot pots. The staff are very friendly and approachable. It's a fun atmosphere!”

A special thank you to Freya, who was absolutely lovely and provided excellent service. She was so friendly, attentive and helpful throughout the evening, which made our experience even better. We really enjoyed our meal and will definitely be coming back! Highly recommended. 😊”

“M8 Hot Pot was amazing, the place looks stunning, the staff are really friendly, they helped us out with everything, the food tasted amazing. They have lots of selections even for the kids. They had Potato stuffed prawn with noodles around it, can't remember the name but tasted amazing,”

“Very disappointing experience. This restaurant was recommended by a friend, so we decided to give it a try. We have eaten Korean BBQ and hotpot in Glasgow, London, Manchester, Liverpool, Hong Kong and China, so we are very familiar with this type of restaurant. Unfortunately, the food selection was extremely limited, especially considering the price. The bill for two people was £78, including only two cans of soft drinks. The biggest problem was the amount of time spent waiting for food and sauces to be refilled. On one occasion, it took around 17 minutes for the food to be replenished, and the sauce section took approximately 19 minutes to be refilled each time. When customers are only given 90 minutes to eat, this amount of waiting significantly reduces the time they have actually paid for. We also noticed fruit flies all around the sauce section. We informed the cashier while paying, as the till was right next to the sauce area. His response was simply, “I didn’t see any,” which felt dismissive and unprofessional. We were wondering why the restaurant was so quiet on a Saturday night, but after this experience, we understand why. Sadly, we will not be returning.”
