About Trap Kitchen Manchester

Trap Kitchen Manchester works as a takeaway on Sherborne St, where orders are placed at a window and the food leaves with you, since there is no seating on site. The boxes are built around seafood, bringing together crab legs, lobster tail and prawns, and waffles arrive in the same box alongside the savoury food. Corn on the cob turns up as a side in the combos, and mac and cheese sits among the options. No booking is taken, so customers order on the spot, then wait outside or in the car until a buzzer signals the food is ready. A wait is common, which is worth factoring into the trip. The entrance is step-free, keeping the ordering window reachable for visitors with mobility needs. The kitchen opens through most of the week and stays closed on Tuesdays.

Customer Review Summary

The mac and cheese is the one item almost everyone agrees on, praised even by diners who otherwise rated the visit poorly. Close behind, the lobster tail draws repeat mentions as the better pick over the crab legs, which one reviewer found too spicy and salty and a hassle to eat, while the bang bang prawns, corn and the ballers combo get their own nods for portion size and seasoning. Long waits at the collection window are the dominant complaint, raised again and again, sometimes stretching well past what staff quoted, with one order arriving missing the corn on the cob and another night short on waffles and lobster. Several call the boxes expensive for what arrives, and dry chicken and dry lobster come up more than once, alongside food described as oily. Reviewers also mention waiting beside bins and spotting rats. One diner reports finding a sharp fragment in their food and says staff dismissed the complaint. Others liked simply ordering at the window and waiting in the car for the buzzer.

“Food took 1 hr 30 mins to come. No phone number to contact them. Just a knock off bando boxes really. I seriously recommend not to order from these, you get the food and the chicken is as dry as my exs lips”

“AVOID AT ALL COSTS, Sharp small fragment of glass/plastic found in food. Was found whilst EATING it, took said peice of glass/plastic to trap kitchen along with the food it was found in. They all got completely defensive, started laughing in my face and shouting at me, didn’t look into it, completely denied that it came from them. Refused to help in any sort of capacity. Will be taking further.”

“Food overall was decent. Pretty expensive for what you actually get. Horrible that the waffles are placed with the food. £15 but no drink included which is another downside. Waited over an hour for food. Area is very sketchy so keep an eye for rats”

“7:17pm ordered my food. Didn't get it till 8:30. You might think that's fine for delivery, but it wasn't delivery. I ordered from the window and waited a hour an 10 minutes. After 30 minutes I was told it'd be 20 minutes , turned out to be another 40 minutes. Turns out you can also pay £5 for your food to be prioritised. When you pay £15 for a tray of food, another 5er is unacceptable. Mac and cheese was nice. Chicken was really dry on the outside, had to pick the edible meat off the dried top layer. Order was missing my corn on the cob. Friday night, no waffles, no lobster. Their trap juice is not juice. It is melted blue slush puppy bottled up and sold for £3.50 They seem to be prioritising Uber eats orders. We've seen 20 riders come and go in the time we waited for food. Lovely ambience whilst waiting, scenic views of bins and wildlife(rats) running around.”

“Waited ONE HOUR for mediocre food cooked in too much oil. Had to sit in the car, in a back street, staring at bins while we waited. Absolutely not okay and not worth the wait.”
