About Butt Karahi Manchester
Butt Karahi Manchester is a Punjabi restaurant at 97 Wilmslow Rd in Manchester, built around Lahore-style lamb and chicken karahi. The lamb karahi comes in more than one version, including a special lamb and a lamb charsi karahi, and roti is served alongside. Seekh kebabs sit among the starters and grills, and the whole menu is halal. Mocktails round out the drinks. A prayer facility on site lets diners pray without leaving the restaurant, which suits a longer meal. Tables can be booked for large groups. The dining room has modern decor.

Customer Review Summary
Lamb karahi is the dish reviewers raise most, with one calling it a new Manchester favourite and others ordering the lamb charsi karahi and the special lamb karahi. Close behind are the starters and grills, including seekh kebabs, a mix platter, a bbq chicken leg, dry charsi chicken and rice, and chaplin kabab, which one diner ranks first. Several describe the food as fresh and full of flavour, with one calling the taste really Lahori. Staff come up repeatedly as welcoming and attentive, including a large birthday group served on time, and the atmosphere is called warm and comfortable. A few note the food is on the pricey side. The one sharply negative review describes a special lamb karahi heavy with fatty rib meat and loaded with green chillies despite a request to leave them out, plus a roti that was hard as rock. Mocktails and a plain lassi also earn a mention, and one reviewer was so absorbed by the rice that they put the cutlery away and ate by hand.

The food was fresh, beautifully presented, and full of flavour—every dish was cooked to perfection. The atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and relaxing, making it the perfect place to enjoy a meal. What really made the visit special was the staff (Special shout out to Myra , Zainab , Annie and Ilyas Everyone was friendly, attentive, and genuinely went above and beyond to make us feel welcome). Their excellent service and positive attitude made the whole experience even more enjoyable. “I had heard so much about this place. The service staff was very friendly and we got a table very quickly despite being very busy. The special lamb Butt karahi was full of fatty rib meat. We had requested without extra green chillies but it was full of green chillies and round red chillies. Very disappointed with the Karahi. Roti was hard like rock. Visited on 27th of December 2025”

“We booked a table for 20 people at Bhutt Karahi to celebrate my 21st birthday and my graduation, and it couldn’t have been a better choice! We ordered a variety of dishes, including fish, chicken, seekh kebabs, chicken karahi, and lamb karahi. Every starter was spot on, full of flavour and cooked perfectly. The highlight for me was the lamb karahi – it’s officially my new favourite in Manchester! The service was excellent, especially considering we were a large group, and everything came out fresh and on time. A special thank you to Zaman & Abdul Rehman Bhai – such lovely, genuine people who made us all feel so welcome. Their hospitality and kindness really stood out and made the celebration even more special. A huge thank you to everyone at Bhutt Karahi. I can’t wait to come back again. Highly recommended!”

“Walked into this great find. Heard a lot about Butt Karahi. On this occasion as it was a hot day I opted for the bbq chicken leg and the dry charsi chicken and rice. As soon as I saw the rice I put the cutlery away and ate by hand. Iliyas and Annie were great. Fantastic welcome and check a few times. I also asked for a plain last (not sweet or salty) it’s a must try. Thanks folks hope to see you soon 👍🏾”
