About Al Jazeera Restaurant
Al Jazeera Restaurant is a halal restaurant at 22 Wilmslow Rd in Manchester, with a menu centred on charcoal-grilled kebabs and grills. The Qabli (Kabuli) Pilau is rice cooked with carrots, raisins and lamb, and it sits alongside the kobeda kabab and lamb chops in the grill selection. Naan is served with the grills, so the meat and bread arrive together at the table. When the dining room fills up, tables are set close together.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often return for the Qabli Pilau, praised for fragrant rice with sweet carrots and raisins over tender lamb, with one calling it the most tasty rice in a very long time. Close behind are the grills: the kobeda kebab is repeatedly described as soft and melting, while the lamb chops, lamb tikka, mixed grill platter and fresh in-house naan also draw mentions. Staff are called welcoming and friendly, and several describe generous portions. The caveats are specific. One diner found the grilled chicken very dry and chewy, though the fish and kobeda were well cooked, and thought service could have been better. Another felt the lamb and rice dish had a very small amount of lamb for the money, calling it mostly rice, though the flavour was decent. One reviewer noticed tables sitting really close together during a busy Ramadan Iftar. One reviewer suggests layering naan under the rice and grills to soak up the sauces, leaving a flavour-packed final bite.

“The food here is amazing. We ordered the Kobeda kebab with the rice. Probably the most tasty rice I've had in a very long time and it was cooked really well. The kobeda was cooked to perfection, soft and tender almost melts in your mouth. The staff were welcoming and very friendly. I'd definitely recommend this place.”

“Very disappointing. I paid around £20 for the lamb and rice, but the portion of lamb was extremely small. It felt like I was mostly paying for rice, with very little meat included. For the quantity provided, it felt more like a £5 meal than a £20 one. The flavour was decent, but the portion size was very poor and certainly not good value for money. I wouldn’t order this dish again unless the portion size was significantly improved.”

“I gave this a try for the first time and they didn't disappoint. My Qabili Pilau with Lamb and lentils was lovely with generous portions 😋. Staff were friendly and efficient. Atmosphere was OK and not too expensive. Will eat here again 👍🏽.”

“Had a great meal at Al Jazeera Restaurant. We ordered the plain rice with raisins and carrots, a portion of Kabuli sauce, and the kobeda kabab with naan. Everything was delicious, the flavors were spot on, and the portion sizes were generous. A special mention to the lady working there, she was incredibly nice, sweet, and welcoming, which made the experience even better. We'll definitely be back”

“Such amazing food! Love everything! This time we went for the Kebadas and the lamb chops! 10/10 for the meat! Drove 1 hr to come here and enjoy a good meal! I can’t wait to go back again! As I was eating I was thinking, I wish I lived above the store so I capsule eat here every day.”
