Quick info
About BAB NQ
BAB NQ is a restaurant at 14 Little Lever St in Manchester, built around flatbread kebabs it calls babs. The chefs make the flatbreads from scratch in a visible kitchen, in a small open-plan room, and every bab is cooked on a robata grill. Marinades and sauces are made in house, and the menu runs from the peri chicken bab to meze dishes and desserts. Halloumi fries sit alongside them, and a tofu shawarma gives vegan diners a main of their own. Kids' babs let children make their own food. The bar pours cocktails, margaritas, beers, wines and soft drinks, and a lunchtime deal is on offer. The space is also available for private hire, for groups and events.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often come for the lunchtime deal, built around chicken babs and salad bowls. Diners praise the salt and pepper chicken bab as full of flavour, a bab salad bowl with chicken and falafel as fresh, and a lamb bab, while the surf and turf is called generous with huge king prawns. The tofu shwarma, Greek fries and margaritas also earn praise, and several describe friendly, attentive staff and an open kitchen. Criticism centres on the food and handling. One reviewer found the halloumi plain, the flatbread dry and the peri chicken's sweetcorn salsa sparse, and a few call it expensive without a deal. Another found a bab bowl dominated by lemony seasoning and whole peppercorns, and after a long wait the waitress would not take it off the bill.

“Came for a meal with vegan mother- she loved the tofu shwarma and staff were very attentive and helpful when it came to other amendments of her meal. I had the surf and turf - I wasn't asked how I wanted it cooked but it was cooked to perfection. Well seasoned and there was so much steak on the flatbread and the king prawns were huge. They are not shy on portions! We had a minor issue with a drink and staff were very happy to solve this for us and swap it. They were really kind and lovely and couldn't do enough for us. We all said we would definitely be coming back here i definitely recommend it!”

“Used to be a huge bab fan and we went back this week after a long time - looking forward to something mega. Unfortunately it was a bit rubbish. First we were told we couldn’t get happy hour drinks if we were getting the 50% off kebabs for national kebab day - which felt a bit naff as the happy hour drinks we wanted were £5 bottles of Sol which is still a lot of money, surely they wouldn’t have missed out significantly from that. Our waiter was really nice, but kept coming over to see if we’d finished repeatedly which made me feel rushed and I ended up just leaving some food so he could take the plates, Halloumi & pomegranate - some pretty plain halloumi, a dry flatbread & about 5 pomegranate seeds with some leaves. Peri chicken bab - again quite plain chicken with ‘sweetcorn salsa’ that was a bit of sweetcorn and chopped peppers. Overall sad that what was once a delicious & reasonably priced meal is now £17 for a naff kebab.”

“Cute little afternoon date with my fiance, had the BAB lunch £10 deal and a few cocktails. Jason our server was present, smiley, friendly, polite and helpful, food was fresh and delicious, and very reasonably priced. 5*”

“Great cocktails but food and service could do with a bit of work. The place has a great potential and we genuinely enjoyed our time here but I'd suggest the following improvements: 1. My bab bowl with chicken tasted only of the lemony chicken seasoning, tang from the picked cabbage with a bite of full peppercorns in each bite. I would suggest balancing out the flavours and sieving pickles before serving - no one wants to eat full peppercorns. 2. We waited quite some time for our food and when I returned my food the waitress, who was lovely in general, said that she can't take it off the bill but offered nothing in return. When I was still talking to her she turned around and started clearing another table. I appreciate that these conversations can be awkward, but some attention at that time would be much appreciated!”

“I threw a suprise engagement party recently for my partner. Rebecca the general manager was fantastic and went a move and beyond to make this a very special occasion. There was a party of approximately 40 of us. The service was great, the drinks and cocktails were fantastic. We did the buffet style platters for the guests and everyone has feedback from the party has lovely the food was. I'd never eaten at BAB before but I can safely say its gonna be my new lunch spot when im In town, especially considering the lunch time tenner deal they offer. Thanks to all the staff who made it such a great night's craic.”

“We’re all about vibrant flavours, locally-sourced ingredients and homemade marinades and sauces. Watch our team of creative chefs make fresh flatbreads, from scratch, in our open theatre-style kitchen. We cook all of our breads on a robata grill, giving each kebab that charcoal flavour. We also offer a selection of tasty non-babs, meze dishes and desserts. Our drinks list includes a variety of beers, wines and soft drinks. We offer an amazing choice of cocktails, from savoury to sweet and everything in between. We're also available for private hire and group bookings. Looking for an event space? We have all sorts of options.”
