Customer Review Summary
Steak and eggs is the dish reviewers return to most, one on cheesy hash that the diner is still dreaming of, another a steak ordered well-done that came cooked through without any char. Close behind are the full English, which two diners note is halal, plus the smashed avocado, French toast and chicken waffle. A cinnamon crunch pudding earns a recommendation, and diners praise the coffee, a hazelnut iced latte and the mocktails. Portions are described as generous, with one group unable to finish their plates. Service draws steady praise, with several singling out a server who explained each dish and looked after their table closely. The criticisms are small. One reviewer found the pancake too sweet, and another had a rocky start after a mix up with the booking system, after which the waiter suggested simply calling the restaurant next time. Two birthday groups describe the same warm touch: one was given a free mocktail, while another received freebies and was allowed to play their own music in the quiet dining room.

“Visiting for a wedding and oh my GOD, this place is such a treasure. The food is amazing (bottomless brunch for 35P), the vibes immaculate, but the kindness and friendliness of the staff is top-notch. Manchester is truly blessed to have such a wonderful staple in their Northern Quarter. 100 years of success to the staff of Fress :)”

“Fress is hands down one of Manchester’s brunch kings. From the moment you walk in, the vibe is warm, stylish, and buzzing without feeling chaotic. The staff are genuinely welcoming, attentive, and make you feel like a valued guest rather than just another table. The food? Absolutely outstanding. Every plate arrives looking like it belongs on Instagram, but the best part is that it actually tastes even better than it looks. Fresh ingredients, generous portions, and flavours that hit every note. Whether you’re there for the legendary French toast, steak and eggs, or one of their incredible brunch specials, it’s clear that quality comes first. The coffee is excellent, the presentation is flawless, and every detail, from the décor to the service, shows real care and passion. It’s rare to find a place that nails atmosphere, food, and hospitality all at once, but Fress does exactly that. If you’re in Manchester and you skip Fress, you’re missing one of the city’s true brunch gems. An easy 10/10. I’ll be back again and again.”

“This is a really great restaurant with an extensive menu. We had a really yummy brunch here yesterday. My steak was as perfect as I’ve ever had. I asked for well-done and it was cooked through without being in the slightest bit charred. Everything was scrumptious and we ended up staying for a pudding (cinnamon crunch - highly recommend!!) the service is absolutely lovely and the restaurant has a great atmosphere. It’s definitely going to become a regular for us 😊”

“I went to Fress for my birthday brunch with a group of my friends. The initial service wasn't the best, though I feel that was simply due to a mix up of the booking system when i was trying to book the table. The waiter let us know for next time to just call the restaurant up if anything. The food was so so good, every plate was cleared. Very affordable. All my friends loved what they ordered, I feel there is a nice variety and uniqueness on the menu in comparison to brunch spots. I personally had the steak and eggs on cheesy hash, and I am still dreaming of that plate now! They also gave me a free mocktail for my birthday which was a really sweet touch and that was really tasty too!”

“Travelled from Blackburn after I won the ‘Meal for Two’ giveaway through Instagram and brought my mum with me to try this place out as it has been on my ‘to-go’ list for so long. Safe to say it did not disappoint! The service was amazing thank you so much (so sorry I didn’t get the name of our server) the food was delicious! Going to need a good sleep now 🤣 Sent us into a food coma. We ordered the Full English and Smashed Avocado with a Hazelnut Iced Latte. Everything was perfect :)”
