Customer Review Summary
The main complaints concern value and consistency. One reviewer found two thin slices of halloumi pricey and the meals small for the cost, while another had both the monkfish and the half chicken come out too salty to eat. The miso banana bread was called nice but nothing mega. In the salty-dish case, the server swapped the monkfish for sea bream and took both dishes off the bill.

“I had high hopes for Evelyn's, but unfortunately our experience was extremely disappointing. We visited on the 3rd August around 1pm. We ordered the shakshuka, a chicken sando, fries, a beef burger and drinks. While eating, the beef burger had a strong fish-like smell, which we found odd at the time but didn't think too much of. A few hours later, the person I was dining with who ate the beef burger became seriously unwell with violent vomiting and diarrhoea, consistent with food poisoning. I can say for certain that it was the burger as that was the only thing consumed while in the city, the unusual smell of the burger has made us concerned that there may have been an issue with the meat or its storage. This completely ruined our trip to Manchester. Based on this experience, I would not recommend eating here.”

“We usually come here for brunch but wanted to give dinner a go, and it didn't disappoint. Great menu choices and excellent service all round. The steak was a real highlight, cooked spot on, and the fried chicken was equally amazing. The margarita and espresso martini were both top notch too. Fully recommended!”

“I was feeling overwhelmed by the crowds of Manchester's eateries as I was travelling solo, so I googled quiet restaurants suitable for neurodivergents (calm atmosphere) and this place came up as the top suggestion as I was close by. It was lovely, chilled and quiet. The majority of staff were lovely. The first member of staff seemed a little off, but maybe he felt I had interrupted something for him. He took me to a table without a smile or welcoming vibe, but everyone else was absolutely lovely! Smiling, welcoming, friendly and kind. The food was wonderful, the drinks were fantastic. It was a lovely meal. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a peaceful brunch.”

“The vibe it’s just so cosy, the drinks and sweets are creative and very delicious. It's suitable for various situations and vibes; you can go alone for a delicious drink and a sweet treat, or with friends for brunch, or later for a romantic dinner date. I highly recommend it!”

“Love the place, lovely people, price is very miss leading, as it was £4 for two thin slices of halloumi and overall cost of the meal did not translate to size (at all). The food its self is lovely and well made, just remember you are paying for the atmosphere. Thank you for the food.”
