About Oddsocks Bar & Kitchen Manchester

Oddsocks Bar & Kitchen Manchester is a restaurant and bar on Great Bridgewater St in Manchester, set inside the Jury's Inn hotel and downstairs from reception. That puts a meal and a drink within reach of guests staying at the hotel. The menu is global, covering finger foods, burgers, sandwiches and meat dishes. It includes a cheeseburger and a ribeye steak served with skin-on fries and onion rings. Cheesecake is on the dessert menu, and the bar pours pints and beers. Ordering happens at the bar, where guests pay for food up front before it arrives, and staff direct people there because there is no table service. The restaurant is open daily.

Customer Review Summary

Friendly staff draw the most praise, with hotel guests describing bartenders whose cheerful conversation lifted their mood after cancelled flights, plus tasty drinks and a pint in good company. Others call the food decent or terrific, and one describes a cozy, well lit room with balanced flavors. Complaints are just as pointed. Two reviewers found the burger dry and tasteless, and one cheeseburger had almost no cheese or relish. Another reports a medium rare ribeye arriving cremated, with the onion rings never delivered. Service gaps recur. Diners say they were told to order and pay at the bar with no sign saying so, waited a long time for drinks or a promised order, and found most menu items unavailable. One reviewer calls it overpriced, with small, bland portions. Another says a manager apologised but would not accept responsibility, after beers were unavailable and a dessert was refused because the kitchen closed at 9.

“A charming spot that focuses on good food friendly service and a relaxed ambience. The dishes highlight quality ingredients and balanced flavors with sides that complement the main items rather than overpower them. The interior is cozy and well lit creating an inviting space for conversation. Staff members are welcoming and attentive checking in at the right moments without hovering. The meal progresses smoothly from start to finish offering a comfortable and enjoyable dining experience. A great option for anyone seeking a meal that feels both satisfying and thoughtfully prepared.”

“As non residents recently arriving in Manchester, we found this place via Google. Reviews of 4 stars! Pah! Got directed by reception, down stairs. Asked for a table for four and had to wait for table to be cleared. Literally only three tables were taken in what looks to be an extensive restaurant. We should have realised then we were going be dissapointed. Were were hungry and sat down. After 10 mins no one came to serve us. Asked at the bar to be told "you have to order at the bar". There is nothing any where on the bar or restaurant that indicates this. OK, we order at the bar or at least we tried. On what was not an extensive menu most options were not available. Ordered 2 8oz Ribeye steaks, medium rare, with skin on fries and onion rings. Food was delivered around 8.30pm, one was medium the other cremated! No one came to the table to ask how our meals were and failed to bring the onion rings. All for meals, that you have to pay up front for! Coupled with the beers not available from the bar and to be told we couldn't order a desert because the kitchen closed at 9, our complaint was to be heard. Went to reception to speak to the manager. To be told we were told at check in, we would have known. We were walk ins! Manager was useless! Apologised but couldn't accept responsibility! I showed her the 3.9 review and the fact that the website showed the restaurant was still open! She apologised that they weren't up to our standards, in fact they are not living up to their own standards! They get a 1 star as there is nothing lower! Massively dissapoited with the start to our weekend in Manchester!”

“Extremely overpriced. If it wasn’t for the fact that we were so hungry we’d have asked for our money back. Quality of food is very poor, portions are small for the price and all pretty bland. Would never visit again. Only gave it 1 star for the fact that we didn’t have to wait that long.”

“We stopped here for tea. We had to find someone to serve us, then they didn't know how to serve a simple drink. A lady said they'd come and take our meal order and we waited 30mins before I went to find someone and turns out that server had gone home. Then most things weren't available on the menu and my partners burger was dry and tastless. The table next to us had the same experience. It was a all round bad experience and I'll never go back.”

“Only 1 of the staff had professionalism, although I was left everyday at the counter waiting to be seated by staff and they saw but did nothing. Most of the staff were young and left me waiting ages for my drink, only to give it to me with my meal? Which I found weird and other times I had to ask for my drink even though the staff were talking at the bar and the restaurant was not busy at all.”
