About House of Beijing
House of Beijing is a Chinese restaurant at 8 Polygon St in Manchester, just over the road from the O2 Apollo. The kitchen cooks Beijing and Guangzhou cuisine. Hotpot is served buffet-style, with a braised brisket spicy version on the menu, and diners can add grilled meat as an optional extra. Beijing roasted duck and spicy noodles made with the same braised brisket are also on the menu. A set menu is offered for those who would rather not choose dish by dish. The restaurant is closed on Wednesdays and open the other days of the week. Card payment is accepted.

“I had a small beef brisket pot with rice and it was delicious! Very friendly staff. I would recomend. They do take card payment but there is a 10% service charge. A perfect venue before going to the 02 Apollo”

“One of the worst Chinese restaurants I've (unfortunately) tried in Manchester. I spent £19 on half a roast duck, and waited almost an hour to have this delivered.”
- Katherine Tan
“The restaurant shamelessly uses pig’s lymph node in its discounted £7.99 meal deals. This outrageous adulteration practice poses great threat to public health. The House of Beijing clearly violates the Food Safety Act 1990 as it 1. Render Food injurious to health as lymph nodes often contain salmonella. 2. Sell food not of the nature or substance or quality damaged which includes adulteration. 3. Falsely describe or present food: misleading information and misrepresentation about the nature, substance or quality of the food. The owner of this restaurant is heinous and malicious in tricking people to buy discounted meals for inedible pork. Please avoid ever buying from here and I wish the owner suffer from his/her unforgivable wrongdoings to eternity.”

“Absolute vile! Ordered spicy chicken and received gristly chicken with bones and a load of peppercorns. Completely inedible. Restaurant seemed quite dirty, would not recommend at all. Very expensive too for what you get with small expensive portions with no sides and warm beers. Awful.”

Customer Review Summary
Hotpot draws the most praise, especially the braised brisket spicy hotpot, which one reviewer pairs with the braised brisket spicy noodles and a small beef brisket pot with rice, all called delicious. A buffet style hotpot with optional grilled meat is described as fresh, and Beijing roasted duck gets a recommendation alongside it. Reviewers also single out friendly, welcoming staff, good portions, and a relaxed set menu meal before a show at the Apollo. The complaints are specific. One diner found the chicken and mushroom chow mein had very thin noodles, chicken sliced like ham, spongy mushrooms and balls of sticky cornflour jelly, as if cooked from frozen. Another received gristly spicy chicken with bones and a load of peppercorns, plus warm beers, and called the restaurant dirty, while a third reports a very slow roast duck delivery. One reviewer alleges pig lymph node is used in the meal deals. Another describes the place as clean, with sanitizer available and no feeling of being rushed.
