  “I've been ordering and coming here for over a year now, and feel they deserved a rating. Particular favourites are the special fried rice with sauce, chow mein, spicy chicken with rice, and pork and green beans. The pork noodle soup (which you can get at the restaurant for under £10 between 12pm and 3pm) is so hearty. The prawn toast and salt and pepper wings are also really tasty. Really impressed with how consistently good the food is and the portion sizes, as well as being looked after when in the restaurant. Thank you Plymouth Grove!”

  “Plymouth grove is amazing, at times. It is my favourite place for mapo tofu, however on multiple occasions I've had problems with them and when I call I get gaslit. One time there where whole prawns in the mapo tofu and they insisted that they make mapo tofu with prawns in it, I've literally been ordering from here for around 3 years. No they don't. Today I received my mapo tofu which had been cooked with no gochujang/ red bean paste (I've attached a picture) it had no hint of red or even orange and no taste of it either. Gochujang is necessary in mapo tofu. Without it it's just pork and veg with a numbing sensation. It had chillis and I could taste chilli oil, but no gochujang... So I called them. They insisted they couldn't have possibly forgotten and that next time I should call before ordering to ask for extra gochujang, so I could taste it. I repeated that it had been completely left out, the normal amount is perfect, I don't want extra, I just want it like they normally do, but no, she repeatedly just replied with "if you call before you order we can do extra red bean paste". I told them I was just calling to let them know of the issue. Why would I lie? If I say the bean paste is missing and I've ordered at least 30+ times -once twice in one day- you should trust me... I LOVE Plymouth grove's mapo tofu but it is so heartbreaking when it's made badly, because it's normally amazing!”

  “The location is good, parking is easy. Food is good but just so and so if you’re a demanding customer. Great price and great service but I hope they can provide better dim sum.”

  “Ive been going to this place since it opened,never once did I need to complain, Chinese food is perfect and just how I like it, chips are also first class. You could feed two people with the box meals and the special chow main is great. Old school cooks in the kitchen making it as it should be and a lovely lady front of house. Overall a great family business and a credit to the community.”

  “**FOUND HAIR IN OUR FOOD** **UPDATED** in response to owners comments below. 100% we have the correct restaurant. PLYMOUTH GROVE CHINESE MANCHESTER ########### We found 2 black hairs in our duck rice which we obviously told the waitress. The owner came over and said they will be checking the CCTV. Not only was she rude to accuse of planting the hairs but not even a basic apology? Whats worse , 5 mins later the same plates of duck rice came out , and they said they changed the rice but kept the duck as the hair was only in the rice. When we questioned this poor hygiene practice the owner again in a very aggressive tone and manner refused to change the dish so we said we didnt want it. At that stage we were pretty upset, we paid what we had already eaten and cancelled the remaining dishes and promptly left. Upon leaving we walked past the open kitchen and witnessed through the window that non of the chefs had any hats or clean aprons on. Heavily stained oily aprons and we could see one of the chefs scratching their hair with their hands whilst handling the cooked meats on the counter. Definitely a cause for concern for poor hygiene practices and would not choose to visit again”

  “The Plymout Grove Chinese restaurant locates on a very quiet side street in Plymouth Grove. You can take the bus no. 50 going overthere and get off from the NSH Blood Donsor Centre that is opposite to the University of Manchester. Unlike other Chinese restaurants in town, the dim sums are limited Choices. The quality of foods are so and so. We ordered the fried rice vermicelli in Singapore style . The ingredines are very so rich having a generous portions but was a bite salty. The deep fried wonton is our second dish but it was a bite over done.”

  “This Chinese restaurant has a very nice Guangdong style food with professional food quality. Moreover food taste and finished are very pleasing and worthy of praise. The waiters are nice and I will visit often.”

  “Food and service were good, but it really is more like takeaway food as opposed to restaurant food. The seating area is pretty basic. If you're not too fussed and want a good tasting takeaway while eating in, this is the place. Solid 4 stars.”

  “Had two dishes, Fu Jian fried rice and Singapore vermicelli. The fried rice was beautifully presented and was very tasty (it might be the effect of MSG). But it was not authentic as compared to those I had usually got in HK. The vermicelli, again both the taste and presentation (it did not have nice curry colour) were not authentic as compared to HK ones. Taste wise was alright but not to my liking. In term of value for money, it should be one of the great choices to taste Chinese dishes.”

  “A beautiful specious place, I loved a service, a madam was so lovely and took care of any of my requests, she brought especially for me an extra drink to warm me up as I felt cold. Food was served very quickly within 3-5mins from ordering and was really delicious. I had noodles &chicken. I can recommend the restaurant for anyone looking for a good meal in reasonable price as well.”
