About Fluffy Fluffy Manchester

Fluffy Fluffy Manchester is a cafe on Whitworth St in Manchester that makes handcrafted Japanese soufflé pancakes, a dish tied in Japan to weddings and celebrations. The pancakes come in pistachio, tiramisu and matcha flavours, so a table can share a few different plates. A tiramisu croffle sits on the menu for anyone who wants something other than pancakes. Orders are placed at the counter with a table number, and tables can only be taken after ordering. Hot drinks are served in disposable cups. Food takes about 15 to 20 minutes to arrive.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often return to the soufflé pancakes, praised as light, fluffy and soft, with the signature, pistachio, tiramisu, Nutella and strawberry, and Oreo versions all named. The nordic griddle and a pistachio latte also draw praise, and several describe the staff as friendly and kind, including one who was patient with a customer's disabled mother. The main complaints concern timing and execution. Reviewers mention food taking 15 to 20 minutes, and one waited about 40 minutes for a BLT sandwich while drinks arrived long after the pancakes. Table numbers were mixed up at ordering, and a few found the order-first, then-find-a-table rule chaotic. Others found the pancakes lukewarm, doughy, or topped with clumps of unsifted matcha powder. One said the Mango Matcha left a thick syrup that would not dissolve, and another disliked hot drinks in disposable cups. Some call the prices fair, while others say two small pancakes were underwhelming for the cost. One reviewer who took away an Oreo pancake got it in five minutes and found it not too sweet.

“I’m in the UK for 7 days, and ive been here twice. The fluffy pancakes are great, the griddles are great, and surprisingly the pistachio latte is the best take on a pistachio latte I’ve ever had. I’m not big on sweets, but this place still won me over. The prices are okay, it’s not too bad considering what you get. The only downside is that the food takes 15-20 minutes. But if that means it’s going to be fresh every time, I think the trade off is worth it. The staff I dealt with is also very helpful and kind. If I lived here this would be a go to spot for me. Definitely check them out.”

“We came on a Monday around lunchtime and the place was empty. We waited the standard 20 minutes and the pancakes were amazing. Super fluffy and super delicious. We had the nordic griddle and the signature pancakes 🥞 Definitely recommend it Staff is super friendly and kind”

“Had a fantastic visit to Fluffy Fluffy Manchester. From the moment we walked in, the staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and attentive, making the whole experience feel relaxed and enjoyable. The atmosphere was bright, modern, and comfortable. An ideal place to catch up with friends over coffee and dessert. The presentation of the soufflé pancakes was beautiful, and they certainly lived up to the hype. They were exceptionally light, fluffy, and soft, with each flavour perfectly balanced. The pistachio pancake was rich and nutty without being overpowering, while the classic and tiramisu versions were equally delicious. The fresh berries, banana, whipped cream, and sauces complemented the pancakes perfectly. The coffees were well made and paired nicely with the desserts, making for a complete café experience. Overall, Fluffy Fluffy delivers on both quality and service. With delicious food, a welcoming atmosphere, and genuinely friendly staff, it’s definitely worth a visit if you’re in Manchester. I’ll certainly be returning to try more of the menu!”

“The staff there were very polite, and have made the best pancakes I've ever had. The staff, Yugo and Airi, in particular helped my picky disabled mother with her order, and was very patient. The prices are better than other dessert shops, but this one delivers way better than it's competitors.”

“Visited for Sunday brunch and had a mixed experience overall. We came here driven by the social media hype and all the fluffy, jiggling pancake videos, but unfortunately the experience itself didn’t live up to that. The pancakes may look great online, but the overall customer experience fell flat. We arrived mid-morning and queued for about 10 minutes, which felt reasonable for the time of day. The staff were genuinely friendly and welcoming throughout, which is definitely a strong point. However, things felt quite chaotic behind the scenes, I counted at least six staff members, but there didn’t seem to be a clear system in place. There was confusion right from ordering, with table numbers being mixed up despite clearly numbered tables. This led to food being carried around the restaurant multiple times while staff tried to figure out where it belonged. It not only looked inefficient but likely slowed everything down. We ordered at 11:43. The signature pancakes arrived about 10 minutes later, which was a positive, but drinks, two lemonades, didn’t arrive until 12:13. The flavour was fine, nothing special. The katsu chicken bowl came at 12:17 and was enjoyable overall, although the vegetables tasted like standard frozen veg, which didn’t really elevate the dish. One of the biggest issues was the lack of consistency in food timing. I noticed several tables where people were waiting 10+ minutes for the rest of their group’s food to arrive. In our case, I ended up waiting around 40 minutes for a BLT sandwich, despite being told food would take about 20 minutes. When it did arrive, it was decent, soft, thick bread and tasty bacon, but nothing that justified the £8.50 price point. There were only around 20 customers in the restaurant at the time, so the delays felt more like an organisational issue rather than being overwhelmed. The atmosphere was a bit confusing too, Afro-style music in a Japanese-inspired café didn’t quite match the setting and added to the slightly disjointed feel. Overall, while the staff were lovely and clearly doing their best, the experience felt more like hype than substance. Unfortunately, it’s not somewhere I’d rush back to, which is a shame as it has potential.”
