  “We visited about a week ago and honestly have nothing negative to say. We arrived wearing corpse makeup and were treated so kindly by all the maids. The food was amazing and tasted really fresh. I’d definitely recommend this café if you’re looking for something fun and different. Thank you to all the staff, especially Maid Marie, who served us”

  “We came across Animaid Café while exploring Afflecks. We'd already eaten elsewhere, so we didn't order any food, but our daughter is a huge anime fan and was absolutely captivated by all the merchandise. She wanted to look at absolutely everything! While we were browsing, it was hard not to notice that the café seemed to be struggling. It was towards the end of the day, and there appeared to be only two members of staff. One was trying to keep on top of drink orders while the other was cleaning tables and chairs around customers who were still eating. We overheard several customers talking about long waits. One table of around six people appeared to have had a particularly frustrating experience, some had received food but were still waiting for drinks, while others had drinks but were still waiting for food. From what we observed, they tried to raise the issue but didn't seem to get very far and eventually got up and left. There was also a mum and her daughter waiting with drinks while they seemed to be chasing the rest of their order. Unfortunately, our own interaction with the staff wasn't great either. As the merchandise is displayed in glass cabinets opposite the counter, we were taking our time looking around. One member of staff repeatedly hurried behind my daughter and loudly said "Excuse me!" on at least three occasions. The first time was understandable, but after that it felt unnecessarily abrupt, especially as my daughter was standing still looking into a display cabinet and wasn't blocking the way. I completely understand that being short-staffed can make for a stressful shift, and I don't doubt the staff were under pressure. However, a little patience and courtesy, especially towards children, would have made a big difference. We left feeling more like we were in the way than welcome. The merchandise is brilliant, and anime fans will absolutely love browsing the shop. It's just a shame that the atmosphere and customer service didn't match the potential of the place.”

  “My daughters wanted to pop in for a drink, took around 30 minutes for the drinks to arrive but they served one ofy childrens ice creams first so that was long gone by the time drinks arrived. The cafe had one other table occupied by two people so I can't imagine what waits are like when its full! , drinks are overpriced but ok for a one time visit”

  “Definitely a must visit if you’re in Manchester!! I was served by maid Kai and they’re definitely my favourite, so sweet and patient offering a level of customer service and attention that feels so rare nowadays. They explained how the custom drinks work to me and then also informed me that they’d be able to wash out the custom cup for me so I could keep the drawing!! Truly a wonderful experience, not to mention the deserts and drinks there are really delicious!”

  “I do want to caveat that it was mildly busy, so I do understand things taking longer but I just can’t recommend this place. The drinks and dessert looked cute and tasted ok but a bit expensive for what we got. It also took a good 20-30 minutes for our drinks to arrive. Our friend finished their shaved ice before the rest of us even got served. The seem to focus more on take out drinks than people sat at the cafe. They got my order very wrong, I received the wrong type of drink and milk, I had to swap drinks with my friend due to a milk allergy. We ordered a drink photo special because we thought it would be cute as none of us have ever been to a maid cafe, but they never asked us about which maid we wanted to get photos with and then just kinda forgot about us, we tried to get their attention to ask but were ignored (again they were serving people we understand drinks and food come first but we did pay for the photo). All in all not a fun time, the staff were really not very friendly or helpful. It was kind of a waste of money.”

  “Such a cute little spot in Afflecks! They can do customised drawings on your drink cup I got a strawberry milkshake with a Pinkie Pie doodle and it literally made my day 💖🍓💘Staff are super friendly too 🥰”

  “Literally my safe space, staff are super kind and friendly, the vibes are perfect and welcoming and the drinks are delicious. I never know what to order and always get customs based on characters and I have yet to have a bad drink, amazing every time.”

  “Been to this place two times. Not recommend to have drinks & foods here if your are expecting them to be delicious, but it's good for insta pics. The drinks are very average, the size of the drinks and the quality, with the price you pay, you can get better boba drinks at any other boba shops in the area. The "Cinnamoroll" banana toast was very average as well, just it looks cute for picture. The chocolate pudding was tasteless, barely had any flavor, but still, looks cute for picture. Staff are friendly and nice, but unfortunately it's not a proper maid cafe. The environment also feels a bit filthy. Foods and drinks need to be improved, environment as well.”
