About Cat Cafe Manchester
Cat Cafe Manchester is a cafe in Manchester on Barton Arcade, off Deansgate, where resident cats share the space with visitors. The cats have cat flaps and high perches, so they can take themselves away for quiet time. Entry is a one-hour session booked online, and the ticket includes unlimited coffee from a self-serve machine. A menu adds food, cake, milkshakes and premium drinks such as chai latte and hot chocolate. House rules ask visitors not to disturb or touch sleeping cats. The staff bring out cat treats and answer questions about the cats. Birthday parties can add a cake to their booking. Special needs sessions run in a more relaxed setting.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often come for the cats themselves, describing them as beautiful, friendly pedigree breeds with plenty of toys, high perches and cat flaps that let them retreat for quiet time. Close behind is the staff, called welcoming and knowledgeable, happy to answer questions about individual cats and to help with food orders. Unlimited self-serve drinks come with entry, while cake, milkshakes, hot chocolates and chai lattes cost extra. A special needs session with laminated communication boards and easy wheelchair access drew particular praise, and birthday outings for children were popular. The main complaints are crowding and sleeping cats. Several note most cats were asleep and the rule against waking them limits contact, one saying awake cats were always surrounded by people and that a seat had to be kept to touch any. The space is small, so full tables make close interaction difficult. One birthday party was disappointed that the set chocolate orange cake replaced a menu treat and that the booking was held to one hour. One afternoon visitor found the cats too full for treats.

“We went there for my son's birthday, I paid for 4 people + the birthday add on which came to around £86. You still only get one hour for that amount of money, which goes fast! And it did say you get to chose I sweet treat from the menu on the website, as part of the birthday add on, however, they had a set birthday cake that day which was chocolate orange. Unfortunately my son didn't like it and was disappointed. They didn't have the table set up yet when we arrived and rushed to get it done, on the reservation sign on our table it said 3:45 to 5pm which is over an hour, to say we booked at 4pm but she said we couldn't stay longer than an hour, she didn't know why that was put on the sign, but if we stayed longer I would have to pay extra. Just to note, the 4 person party was mainly adults except my child. The cats were beautiful though, just wish the experience was better. I don't think we will be going again.”

“Had a good experience at the cat cafe yesterday, the service from staff were lovely, they were hands on what your needs and took time out to speak about their cats. The cats themselves were gorgeous and friendly. There were few kids at the cafe and the cats were very gentle towards them. Majority of the cats were sleeping when we arrived and one of the rule was not to disturb cats when sleeping so we could just look at them. Eventually the staff brought out cat treats and then the cats woken up and interacting with us. Cats are cats; they spent most of their time sleeping so you can't expect them to be greeting you at the door when you arrive. As part of your ticket you get unlimited coffees from a self serve coffee machines. They are as you expect them to be coming from an automatic machine. You do get a menu to order food and more specific drinks like chai latte etc but you do need to pay extra. The space itself is quite small and when the tables are filled, it is difficult to interact with cats close up and have to wait awhile. We were fortunate enough to arrive during quiet period so we had no issue with that.”

“Birthday outing for my 9 year old daughter and friends. They loved spending time with the cats and eating cake. Staff are really good, they went out of their way to insure that we had a great day out. I would definitely recommend and I'll be visiting again.”

“Myself and my 14yr old son came here Wednesday 2nd Sept for my birthday. We booked a standard normal hour. Whilst there we had some of the complementary cold drinks and then ordered hot chocolates. We had an amazing time and will definitely return with more family members. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. The cats well! Ottie stole the show for us being the most active. Some were sleeping so we didn’t disturb them as per the rules. But there were a fair few available for strokes and cuddles and generally looking adorable.”

“I am sorry in advance for this as I struggle to edit my thoughts but I’ve been to quite a few cat cafes as I lost my lovely boy last year to stage 4 kidney failiure, and it has profoundly impacted my life. I am severly disabled and relate more to cats than I do people,I think cats are awesome. This is why I’ve been to your (amazing) new cat cafe twice now, once with my support staff to a special needs session and once last Saturday with my also cat obsessed family.my sister booked the regular session but I prefer the more relaxed setting of the SN sessions. With the cafe itself, I love the area it is in,very regal and smart looking whilst being very inviting-more importantly it is super extremely cat friendly first with all the high areas for the cats to avoid to avoid us when they’re done with peopleing after a hard hours work. the actual cafe is also very easy to access as a wheelchair user, you are one of the few places out there I’d give a massive thumbs up for accessibility. With the lift for instance, some places use steep ramps to get into and out of the lift,if you use what’s called a active manual wheel chair like me the gravity is set further back on most of these so the front is easier to lift up onto pavements etc but the problem is then with the ramps when they are clearly not tested by wheelchair users as a chair like mine would tip back- however NOT in your cafe, the ramps ease you into the lift rather than tip you over. With the special needs session, I absolutely loved it, you really thought about this inc putting out the laminated boardmaker communication boards (I am a PECS and Proloquo2togo AAC user) So massive respect to whoever put it together. I think you are a warm, inviting hub of beautiful lasting cat therapy, you are not just a cafe with gorgeous cats and brilliant friendly staff,I will always be greatful for your feline services and if it’s ok with you I would love to continue coming! Just one thing though if it’s ok to write, if there is anyone disabled looking for parking and you are in a wheelchair or can’t do stairs, don’t use the Deansgate/Blackfriars street under cover car park as it says it has disabled parking,so you think, great. You get there and you roll out the car,and…..where’s the lift? 😝 who would honestly build a car park with disabled parking, showing a person in a wheelchair on all signs and then only offer stairs? So unless you are great at WMX avoid this car park or if there’s a few of you, drop you out at the bottom then someone take the car up but it defeats the point of disabled parking.”
