Customer Review Summary

Reviewers return mainly for the breakfast deal, with the vegetarian breakfast and the traditional full English singled out as enormous portions at a bargain price. The free refills on coffee are close behind, and one reviewer had two refills with a breakfast that arrived quickly. A steak with thick cut chips and a homemade peppercorn sauce earns praise from one diner as well cooked and simple, and others call the dinner food very nice or okay for what it is. Seating is described as spacious, with board games and good lighting, and ordering and paying through the app with food brought to the table is called convenient. Service draws mixed comments: several find the staff friendly and efficient even when packed, while one calls dinner service a bit rough and without much joy, and another notes limited interaction. One reviewer found the seating near the toilets a bit smelly in the morning. A longtime regular recalls the bar and kitchen reopening within hours after a flood.

“I love a Spoon! As a foreigner, I am so intrigued by these establishments. They sell classic British cuisine and are very affordable and offer very quick service. This one in particular I found to be clean, inviting, and all good things! ❤️”

“Im Joe M. I have been a customer at Ford Maddocks Brown on and off about 10 years. I have found all round service excellent staff are efficient, freindly and do all they can to please .A point worthy of mention. On Saturday 11th unfortuntely the bar and kitchens suffered a flood.....most premises l know would have closed and waited for other services ...to clean up and through hard work and dilligence staff and manager on duty cleaned up and they opened up within 2 hours.. l have worked in the trade previously, l also live 2 busses away but because l feel comfortable and welcome and staff(as above) will go over and above to solve problems wherever possible . I highly recommend. The Ford Maddocks for family meals and service or just a relaxing atmosphere for a social drink .”

“Visited the Ford Madox Brown Wetherspoons recently. It was a pretty standard Spoons experience overall — very busy when we were there, but the staff handled it well and kept things moving. The food was okay and about what you’d expect from Wetherspoons, and the service from the team was good considering how packed it was. Nothing out of the ordinary, but a solid stop if you’re looking for a quick and affordable bite or drink in the area.”

“We had dinner on a Thursday night at 9:30 pm and the food was very nice. Service was a bit rough but it got the job done (with not much joy).”

“Spacious seating arrangement with good lighting and ambience. Decent food for the price paid and unlimited beverage refills was the best part. Seatings near the toilets were a bit smelly though we visited in the morning when they were supposed to be clean. Ordered the traditional breakfast and a small breakfast which along with the coffee was sufficient and perfect. Would love to visit again.”
