Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often praise the feel of a proper pub, with football on the screens and a lovely atmosphere for a pint or a whole evening. Close behind are the beers, called good and decent, and the pies, with one diner calling theirs delicious and another planning to try one. Live music on Friday nights, board games that kept one visitor well past a quick drink, a playlist one guest enjoyed, and Christmas decorations also earn mentions. Several describe the staff as great and lovely, and one says the pub is clean. The recurring complaint centres on the male manager and a doorman. Several reviewers say groups who work in hospitality were cut off over a few spilled drops of drink, and one party celebrating a friend's birthday was shut out of the pub. Another was turned away rudely at the door when the pub was full. One group asked to play darts, was told yes by the young bartender, and then watched the manager slam the board shut.

“I've been in Didsbury for years and loved this pub. But the last couple of times I've been put off by the rudest man I've ever met on my life in the door. If you're full then fair enough, there's no need to be horrible about it. He was also abusive to my partner who didn't have ID (he's 40 for some context). A real shame.”

“To begin, me and four of my friends came into this pub and was all served by a lovely young woman and I asked her if we could play darts, she said that would be completely fine and I gave her my ID. Out of no where one of the bar men (I’m assuming the manager) stormed over and slammed the darts board shut and said “NO DARTS TODAY” and it did come across as very confusing, bizarre and even quite aggressive for no reason at all, as at first we had great service of the young woman. Which set an awkward atmosphere, we thought nothing of it was we all work in hospitality and understand how the job can be sometimes. The rest of the group followed in, and this really made him angry he was scurrying around and seemed annoyed a big group was in. One of my friends walked past a friend in order to get past him and genuinely the tiniest drop of alcohol spilled on the and he then decided to cut us off and go on a mad one. It was so uncomfortable and uncalled for especially because we said we would clean the minuscule amount dropped. This is an accurate account for what happened so far. Then my friends were asking him why we were cut off he and started shouting and saying he was gonna ruin our night by sending a picture to the other pubs so we don’t get let in. He then was pacing up and down the street telling other pubs. Baring in mind it’s about 5pm and we have had 3-4 drinks and it’s a friends birthday, we was not drunk so with your poor excuse of being “in line with the license” is a fabrication to cover up his poor attitude and behaviour. You claim that you guys work hard to create a “ welcoming and vibrant atmosphere” so when we make a vibrant atmosphere we get kicked out? The issues raised plainly need to be addressed as he made this poor girl feel stressed and overwhelmed that is not a welcoming nor great work environment. To the extent she was crying and even agreed the man on shift was acting insane. No other pub in the area had to refuse us service as we went to every single other pub after and they stated the man who cut us off is known for this type of crash out behaviour and rude poor attitude. Sort it out, and the malicious lies to spin a narrative.”

“The owner was a miserable man who kicked us out over a few droplets of a drink. He was rude. His behaviour is clearly an issue as he has several negative reviews also other pubs that we went to also commented on his poor embarrassing behaviour as an owner. He took photos of people without consent and I’ve never had such awful customer service. He even tried to take a tip from his staff and keep it for himself absolutely disgusting.Do better”

“Immediately met with a horrible attitude from the male manager working, we accidentally spilt some of our drink and he had a huge issue and cut over half the group off. If we were rowdy we would understand but we were being polite and respectful as we work in hospitality. He was disgusting and should not be allowed to treat customers like that. Serious management change is needed, the other girl was lovely and should not have to deal with him.”
