Quick info
About The Parrs Wood
The Parrs Wood is a pub at 356 Parrs Wood Rd in Manchester, a large, rambling building with a separate area set aside for groups. That area pairs with a buffet the pub offers for events such as club socials and wakes. The menu includes a Sunday roast, and a banner outside advertises a two-course set offer. Sporting events are shown, so the pub works for watching a match as well as for a meal. Guests can order by phone from the table or pay at the counter. Parking on site is limited, with street parking nearby.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise The Parrs Wood for its buffets at group events. A club social for 50 runners and a wake for 40 in a separate area both got plentiful, tasty food and friendly, accommodating staff, with the cheesecake a real hit at the wake. Close behind are the everyday pub dishes. One diner describes a lamb shank with creamy mash and seasonal greens as succulent and tender, another loved the cheese and onion pie, and a third calls the Sunday roast generous and delicious. Reviewers also describe the atmosphere as friendly and relaxed, and the staff as helpful and welcoming to a young grandson. The complaints are specific. One roast dinner arrived with microwaved stuffing that cost extra, and a mid-week two-course banner offer came with no explanation, so one couple paid full price for a course each. One visit ended with a side order and unlimited ice cream left off the bill.

“Well, very pleasantly surprised by this last minute drop in for food. Such an amazing venue, spacious and very homely setting with amazing decor. Didn't wait long for food and by god it was divine!!!!!! Although tempted by the amazing quality of the 2 courses for £18.50 due to the heat i only went for the Lamb Shank with Creamy Mash, seasonal greens and gravy but was well worth it. Beautifully presented and packed with simple but robust flavours, succulent and tender lamb shank that didn't scimp on the meat with silky smooth mashed potato accompanied by perfectly al dente cabbage, sweet mangetout and courgettes. Sometimes the best produce don't need messing with just supporting on a plat and this chef did it fantastically. I would highly recommend this venue for the food alone but you'll see there's more to the place too. Huge thank you to the wonderful staff and the venue management too. Bravo”

“I am sharing this rather belated, apologies! We held a social event for our club at the Parrs Wood and we are so grateful to everyone for the day we had. The staff, from the booking to the day, were friendly, supportive of nutritional needs, and went out of their way to help us enjoy our day. The buffet was very very good, tasty food, plentiful portions - which is difficult with 50 runners eating - and the price was so reasonable. We hope to be back for future events - thank you!”

“I wouldn’t come back here. Me and my partner had a roast dinner. It was not nice at all the stuffing was microwaved and u pay extra for stuffing bizarrely. I’d call for a drink but certainly wouldn’t eat from here again”

“Pleasingly quiet time to eat (sporting events on). Option to order via phone at table or pay at counter. Plenty of helpful staff always checking we were satisfied and had what we needed. Side order and unlimited ice cream wasn't even charged for; on the house 😊.”
