About Volta
Volta is a bar in Manchester at 167 Burton Rd, running a bistro-style menu of tapas-style small plates built for sharing. Around six tapas feed two people, and the list includes whipped feta with flatbread. Deli boards and charcuterie sit alongside the small plates, and vegan options are on the menu. The Sunday roast comes as a platter for two, with beef and pork among the meats, trimmings, and sides of pigs in blankets and cauliflower cheese. Poussin and spatchcock appear among the mains, and sticky toffee pudding is on the dessert menu. At the bar, craft beers are on tap and flat whites are available. The team accommodates allergies, and an allergen menu can be requested by phone.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often point to the small plates, with the aubergine miso dip, dry fried green beans, scallops, lamb sausage and whipped feta with flatbread singled out, and one describes six tapas as plenty for two. Close behind is the Sunday roast, where the pork, the beef and the cauliflower cheese get praise, along with pigs in blankets and a sticky toffee pudding described as fabulous. Several note friendly, knowledgeable staff, and two families with allergies describe a team that was accommodating, with the chef adapting dishes so a daughter could enjoy the poussin. Vegan choices and craft beers on tap also come up, and one reviewer calls the smoked cod tasty. The caveats are modest: one finds the portions could be more generous, one wants more dessert choices, and one enjoyed the spatchcock's flavour but not all the bones. One visitor arrived hoping for tapas and found only the roast served on a Sunday, and still called it a good roast.

“Met up with friends for a long lazy lunch on a Saturday. We weren’t disappointed. The tapas selection was just the right balance, front of house knew their stuff and genuinely seemed like they enjoyed being there. Can’t wait to go back!”

“Excellent all round - easy, very tasty, friendly vibe. Great vegan choices (among best I've seen for a while), and some fancy meat too! Smoked cod was tasty. Couldnt fault anything. Some proper craft beers on tap. All really good will be going back!”

“Absolutely incredible. Scallops, lamb sausage, whipped feta and flatbread were a must! Flavour of the spatchcock was incredible - just not a huge fan of all the bones.”

“We went on a Sunday hoping to have the tapas but all they served was the roast (which tbf, I could've found out prior myself). It was a good roast though! We got the platter for two people and it was like the perfect amount of food. The pork was my favourite of the meats. It was perfect. The trimmings were all really good. I would also recommend the pigs in blankets (though how can you ever go wrong with pigs in blankets). The service was excellent. My partner has allergens and they were very attentive, very understanding and accommodating. Prior to our reservation, I called to double check their allergen menu and they were really really helpful with finding stuff that were appropriate and allergen-friendly. The location was also really easy to get to. I opted for an outdoor table and was very happy with the sunlight and people watching. I will return for the tapas.”
