  “My fiancée and I hired the Cellar Bar at Northern Monk for our engagement party. The communication from planning to execution was superb, the staff were friendly and attentive, gave us loads of flexibility with the drinks/food choices and decorations, and everyone invited loved the space. It’s the perfect size, clean, welcoming and ideal for any type of celebration. We would happily recommend it to anybody. Huge thanks to Erin, Sinead, Julia, Nathan, Liam, and the full team for making our celebration so special. We will surely be back!”

  “Looking for something unique? Give this place a try. The biscuits were light an fluffy but did not fall apart while eating. We both went for the Miss Honey with a side of 12 popcorn chicken to share. The portion size was perfect and the chicken was well seasoned, crispy and juicy. If you aren't quite sure about having an American style biscuit then they can swap it for a brioche style burger bun instead. 10/10 would recommend.”

  “Becoming aware of the brewery during Lockdown, I was pleased to learn, that along with Leeds, Northern Monk has a pub in Manchester. The outside of the pub has seating. The inside has a mix of tables, benches, chairs and bar stalls. Rather uniquely, the pub also has its own photo booth! Made up of two rooms, the Alfred Tennyson quote over the exposed red brick, helps to give the largest room in the pub a warm rustic atmosphere. The pub has a selection of spirits, fizzy soft drinks, coffee, real Cask ale, Northern Monk's own beers and a selection of guest beers from other breweries. Since my first visit, the very knowledgeable staff at the pub have been absolutely fantastic. Needing to organise a meeting place for a group at the last minute during the run-up to Christmas last year, the staff really helped in sorting out the booking and making sure that the event went smoothly. On this visit, I started by having a terrific Vegan biscuit with Cajun chips and sausage gravy for dinner, with half a pint of Brass Castle's Hazelnut Mild on Cask. Despite the rather warm weather, the Cask had clearly been cared for and was in great condition. Purchasing a ticket as soon as they became available , I got set for the special event: The guided tasting of Trillium beers, and a bottle share. Taking place over three hours, Liam (the General Manager of Northern Monk Refectory Manchester) and the other staff, made this an absolutely magnificent evening . Along with being a really educational event, and kindly answering any questions the attendees had about the beers we were tasing, Liam and the rest of the staff made this such a relaxed, friendly event. As I left to get the last train home, I looked back, at Northern Monk's spectacular Manchester monastery.”

  “Really cool, laid back bar. Lots of different beers on tap, plenty to choose from. Didn't eat here, but the food smells great! Lots of seating inside, if the bar area looks full, walk through and there are plenty of other rooms to sit in. Atmosphere is good, but it's not too loud to chat. Inclusive restrooms and very LGBTQ+ friendly. I'd give it an extra star just for that if I could! Strongly recommend this establishment.”

  “I really had no idea what I was walking into when I came to northern monk for the first time. I was greeted with excellent service from the bartenders which served an excellent drink even though the price was a bit steep. The seating situation could be better in the bar area but there’s plenty of space in the other room and downstairs. By the looks of the food, I can see why so many people were sat down eating.”

  “Me and my partner discovered this place yesterday Feb 6 2026, I tend to be a very happy guy always in happy company, and love to go to happy places, they serve Weissbier which is literally my favourite type of beer, this added double points to this place. But it's the first time I have been in Manchester, also English is not my first language so sometimes people do struggle to understand me, it doesn't matter because the people at the bar are lovely they smiled and treated me nice when ordering stuff! I am very happy I found this place , I will return a 1000x when back to Manchester! Such a welcoming place Thank you PS: We tried the biscuit first time, DELICIOUS”
