About Affleck & Brown
Affleck & Brown is a pub in Manchester's Northern Quarter at 4 Hilton St, set in a former Victorian department store. The drinks list covers pints, including Guinness, along with wine and cocktails such as pornstar martinis and amaretto sours. Bottles of house wine come with a happy hour deal. Live music comes from a band or a pair of independent musicians who play requests while people sing along. The lighting inside is low.

Customer Review Summary
Friendly bar staff are the most repeated draw, with reviewers describing chatty, quick service and bartenders who know the cocktail list. Drinks named include pints of Guinness and pornstar martinis, which one reviewer called second to none, and a house wine bottle deal at happy hour that another found great. Live music comes up next, with a band getting the whole room singing. Criticism is scattered but specific. One reviewer's amaretto sours arrived with two types of ice filling over two thirds of the glass, no egg white, and a slice of dried fruit instead of a lemon wedge or cherry. Another found the lighting too low to see friends across the table, and one felt a bar manager spoke down to their table, which spoiled an otherwise good night with the rest of the team. Still, the atmosphere is called lovely, and one visitor recalled two independent musicians working through requests while the staff danced along behind the bar.

“This place has been a favourite of my friend's and I since moving to Manchester a couple of years ago. Fab, friendly staff and drinks that keep us coming back time and time again! Underrated Northern Quarter gem. 💎”

“I have to rate this place a massive ZERO. I was here for a drink with my sister when we got racially attacked within this establishment. Cooperation from the pub was awful and the "security" people were totally useless and oblivious to anything. I have to say just avoid this place unless you are white or want a rubbish experience. As expected these people get away with it. You should feel safe within an establishment not treated like this. Safe to say I will never return here and will be telling anyone and everyone to avoid this place unless you want something like this happening to you. Very simple.”

“Went in for a friend’s birthday, staff were friendly. Only downfall for me personally was the lighting was too low where we couldn't see each other.”
