Customer Review Summary
Diners most often praise the food, with one reviewer recommending the steak, mushroom and Merlot pie and others naming a well prepared, generous sea bass, scoop-shaped chips, and a chocolate brownie called the best ever. Several describe dishes as well presented, nicely cooked and tasty home cooked, and one likes the choice across the main, light bite and specials menus. Reviewers also describe a lovely village setting with black beams and a historical feel, plus friendly, attentive staff. Complaints are few and mild. One reviewer wanted larger portions or a slightly lower price, though another found it reasonably priced. There is no beer garden, only a few tables out front. One busy visit meant sitting outside, and that reviewer suggests reserving. The only service slip mentioned, a mix up with the bill, was swiftly rectified.

“Went there with a few friends. The pub is in a wonderful setting and suits it's characteristic style. Would have given it a 5 star if the portions on the menu were larger or the price slightly less.”
- Matthew Weflen
“Best chips I've had in the UK kind of scoop shaped leading to a lot of crucial surface area. I had the sea bass entree which was well prepared and generous. It was quite crowded and we were forced to sit outside - but the waitstaff was attentive and prompt. I recommend getting reservations, this seems to be very popular with locals and nearby residents. Highly recommended overall.”
