About The Shed

The Shed is a British restaurant on Palace Gardens Terrace in Notting Hill, London, with a menu built around the owners' family farm in West Sussex. The kitchen cooks hyper-seasonally, so the à la carte changes with the time of year and leans on wild ingredients alongside produce from the farm. The menu runs to 43 items, among them Whipped Cod's Roe and a Goat's Cheese Tartlet, and a Spiced Pumpkin Daiquiri sits on the drinks side. A five-course tasting menu follows the farm-to-fork idea from start to finish for diners who want the kitchen to set the order. Reservations are required. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary

Scallops are the dish reviewers raise most, called delicious and a starter to try, with the pork, whether as a pork chop or on a rowdy night, close behind. Diners also single out the venison, the salt baked potato, duck, tuna, a fish platter and the goat's cheese tart. Servers are repeatedly described as friendly and knowledgeable, explaining the farm to fork concept, and one remade a cocktail that missed the right flavour. Several call the room cosy and warm.

“Found this through a quick search of farm to table and local food. The Shed did not disappoint and was amazing. Great staff, drinks and food. I was there on rowdy night and the pork was incredible. The scallop is a must try starter. My house, Bianca, was personable and warm with great recommendations. The entire staff was fun and great atmosphere.”

“Food was lovely, service was impeccable. I had the venison which was cooked to perfection and the salt baked potato! So crispy! Our server, Bianca, was very attentive. Even to the point of getting a cocktail remade as the original didn't quite hit the right flavour. Only issue for me was a very loud woman sat on the opposite table who it seemed wanted the entire restaurant to hear her conversation. I highly recommend this restaurant.”

“Excellent lunch at the Shed. Exceeded our expectations. We were a group of 5. The fish platter for starters with a bottle of English wine, the mains such as pork chops, duck and tuna were superb. The 2 waiters were knowledgeable and very friendly. This place is a real gem.”

“I came here to celebrate my friend’s birthday. Before our visit, I called the restaurant to ask about a particular dish, but unfortunately, they didn’t have it available. They recommended an alternative, so we decided to go with the seafood mix, which was fresh and quite good. We also ordered a bottle of champagne, sparkling water, and burrata with chips as a starter. Overall, the food was fresh and enjoyable, and we had a nice evening. However, when the bill came to £225, I was honestly surprised by the price. For what we ordered and the overall experience, I felt it was far too expensive. I’m happy to pay for quality, and I understand that sometimes you are also paying for the location, atmosphere, and style of a restaurant. But in this case, I don’t think the setting, service, or overall experience justified such a high price. The food was good, but unfortunately, the value for money was not. For £225, I would expect a much more exceptional experience. It’s a nice place, but personally, I wouldn’t return at that price.”

“Went there for their summer lunch special. The prices are decent even not on the special, especially consider it is right next to the Notting Hill gate station. The food was great, tasty and nicely plated. The service was even better. The staff was really friendly and observant. They explained the concept of farm to fork and the dishes very well. Highly recommended.”
