About Sadaf Restaurant
Sadaf Restaurant is a family-run Persian restaurant at 27 Westbourne Grove in London, minutes from Queensway station. A naan oven in the kitchen bakes bread fresh on the spot, so loaves come to the table made on site. The menu centres on kebabs and slow-cooked dishes, including jujeh kabab and lamb shank, and both arrive with saffron rice. Koobideh kabab appears in several forms, among them a mixed grill platter with lamb chops. Starters run from potato salad to a mixed appetizer, and Persian ice cream is served for dessert. The dining room is set with round tables.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often return for the kebabs, with the jujeh kabab and jujeh koobideh named repeatedly, one calling the chicken juicy and seasoned well, and another finding the jujeh hard and not tender. Close behind is the lamb shank, described as falling off the bone, along with saffron rice and chicken saffron. Starters such as Salad Oliveh, potato salad and khashke bademjan get mentions, as do the mixed grill platter with lamb chops and the ice cream to finish. Several point to the naan oven and fresh bread made on the spot, and to generous portions. Hosts and waiting staff are often called welcoming, friendly and attentive, and one describes a personal greeting from the owner. The main complaint concerns pacing and manner at one table: mains arrived halfway through the appetizer, and when the diners declined to have it cleared, the waiter asked if they really wanted to keep it before leaving the plates. One reviewer also describes a staff member shouting during a complaint about a dish. Several regulars say they have been coming for years, and one celebrated a birthday there.

“Very disappointing and concerning experience. The food we were served had a strong unpleasant smell, and we discovered visible mould on it. We immediately informed the restaurant staff and showed them the problem. After eating the food, I became unwell. We later returned to obtain the receipt and discuss what had happened. Instead of handling the complaint professionally, a member of staff became angry, shouted at us and spoke to us in a very disrespectful manner. I have photographs and videos of the mould and have retained the sample. I am extremely concerned about both the food-safety issue and the way our complaint was handled. I would strongly recommend that the restaurant takes food hygiene and customer complaints much more seriously.”

“If you're looking for authentic Persian cuisine, this place is absolutely worth visiting. Every dish we tried was packed with flavour, beautifully prepared, and tasted genuinely mouth-watering. You can tell a lot of care goes into the food, making it feel like a true taste of Iran rather than just another Middle Eastern restaurant. The ice cream is an absolute must-try as well. It's the perfect way to finish the meal, rich, refreshing, and unlike anything you'll find at a typical restaurant. What made the experience even more memorable, though, was our host, Diliman. He was incredibly welcoming, full of wit, and had us laughing throughout the meal with his jokes and quick humour. He has a great personality that instantly makes you feel at home. Be prepared, you'll probably leave with a full stomach and a few laughs thanks to him! Excellent food, warm hospitality, and a genuinely memorable dining experience. We'll definitely be back.”

“I had a wonderful dining experience at this Persian restaurant. The highlight of the meal was the lamb shank—it was incredibly delicious, perfectly cooked, and so tender that it fell off the bone. The rich, aromatic spices and flavorful sauce made every bite memorable. It was served with fragrant saffron rice that complemented the dish beautifully. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the staff were friendly and attentive. If you're looking for authentic Persian cuisine, I highly recommend this restaurant, especially the lamb shank. I'll definitely be coming back!”
