About Ranoush

On Kensington High St in London, Ranoush is a Lebanese restaurant at number 86, with a menu built around shawarma wraps in chicken, lamb and mixed meat versions. The hommos comes topped with shawarma chicken and is served with freshly baked Lebanese bread, and a tabbouleh salad sits alongside it on the menu. Portions are large, and the shared platters suit a table of friends as much as a single wrap suits one person. The room is small, with high tables and only a few seats. Starters and wraps arrive close together, so the table fills quickly once the food is ordered. The kitchen keeps serving late into the night, which makes Ranoush an option for a late-night meal.

Customer Review Summary

Shawarma is the main draw, with reviewers praising the lamb and chicken versions as juicy, not overly greasy, and paired with tabbouleh. Hummus topped with shawarma chicken, served with freshly baked Lebanese bread, is highly recommended by one diner, and close behind come grilled halloumi, kibbeh and the lamb flatbread arayes. Portions are described as big enough that a lunch platter and a wrap satisfied three people, and staff are called welcoming, with one team repackaging leftovers and another adding a few free chips. The room is small with few tables, and one reviewer found them too small for several shared dishes and not suited to big groups. Another says starters and wraps arrived so close together that everything was eaten at once. Negative reviews are sharper on the food. One says the shawarma was under-seasoned with little filling and the hummus tasteless, another says the chicken shawarma looked undercooked and the meat had fatty bits, and a takeaway order of two lamb shawarmas was reported raw at home, with the restaurant insisting they were fresh.

“My family and I visited this restaurant and ordered chicken shawarma, meat shawarma, hummus topped with shawarma, fattoush, tabbouleh, and juices. The service was fairly good, but the seating wasn’t very comfortable. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing. The chicken shawarma appeared undercooked, and the meat shawarma had unpleasant fatty bits and was poor quality. The hummus and the shawarma on top were also poor, and the tabbouleh was below expectations. The fattoush was vert good. After we got home, we experienced severe stomach cramps and diarrhea. This experience left me worried about the food quality and hygiene. We paid 115 pounds for sandwiches, a few side dishes, and drinks, which was very expensive for the quality we received. I don’t recommend this place.”

“3.5 /10 Shawerma was not well seasoned, nor had enough filling. Hummus, although it looks delicious, it is tasteless unfortunately. The only good thing is the prices and that it opens until 12AM. Orange juice was below average Good service Had to give it 2 starts as we couldn’t even finish our meal !”

“This place just blew out my expectations today. We were in the area casually, and I thought this would be just a convenient way to have food, more like a fast food experience. However I was wrong! We got a cozy and nice table in the back. We order just a few things that we were planning to share, but portions are very generous and good quality - Everything was delicious. Unfortunately we couldn’t finish all, but speaking of generosity, the staff working there packaged everything again so we could take it home. Service was great, you could see these are folks that are going the extra mile to get their customers happy. I’m surprise it doesn’t have better reviews on average, but trust me, give it a try!! Whether you are a local like me, or a tourist, you won’t be disappointed.”

“I just got 2 lamb shawarma to go but when I got home to eat them, they were both not cooked and raw. The restaurant told me it was fresh... I mean seriously 18 pounds for this rubbish? Very bad quality food”
