Quick info
About Sticky Mango
Sticky Mango is a South East Asian restaurant at 33 Coin St in London, led by Chef Patron Peter Lloyd. The menu is built around sharing plates and mains, with dishes passed across the table. Malaysian chicken curry puffs arrive with a yoghurt sauce or green chutney, the spiced chips come with a peanut sauce, and scallops are on the list too. A set menu runs alongside the à la carte, and a separate gluten-free menu is kept for guests who need one. The bar pours cocktails and keeps a wine list. Private dining and group bookings are available for larger parties.

Customer Review Summary
Scallops come up most, described as soft with a perfect texture and a stand out of a three-course meal. Close behind are the Malaysian chicken curry puffs, served with yoghurt sauce or green chutney, and the chicken satay skewers, called juicy with good flavour. Others praise the spiced cauliflower with vanilla puree and green curry, the black pepper prawns, the steak, and a sea bass and white wine pairing. A separate gluten-free menu is valued by one coeliac diner, and the cocktails and wine list get a nod. Reviewers raise some caveats. The chicken and shrimp nam rolls were called greasy and a bit tasteless, the sauce on the Hanoi style salmon was too vinegary, and the king prawn pad Thai could use more seasoning. One diner waited a long time for mains, and another found the seating congested. One reviewer says the set menu is excellent value, though they learned service charges reportedly do not go to staff. One diner closes on the sticky rice dessert, as good as any they have had outside Thailand.

“We booked this place based on a recommendation, and we had a pleasant experience. The restaurant has a beautiful aesthetic and the staff were very attentive and helpful. We went for the à la carte menu and ordered many sharing plates and mains. The Malaysian chicken curry puffs were interesting and served with a yoghurt sauce, we all liked this. We weren’t a fan of the chicken and shrimp nam rolls as these were overly greasy and a bit tasteless too. The scallops were made perfectly, very soft with the perfect texture. We all really liked the chicken satay skewers, it had a really good flavour and the chicken was juicy and not over done at all. The black pepper prawns were also really nice and unusual, this had good flavour. We also had the bao buns which were nice. For mains we ordered the Hanoi style salmon which was perfectly buttery and flakey, although the sauce was a bit too vinegary which was quite potent too, but the salmon was well made. The king prawn pad Thai was also good, flavour wasn’t too strong and could have done with a bit more seasoning, but still good food. Also had the mammak bbq chicken which had really good flavour and well made. Overall we all enjoyed the food, everything was well made and not too overdone or underdone. In addition, the service was faultless, the staff were all friendly and attentive.”

“Being someone who goes into a restaurant and not ordering themselves but trusting the person serving them I must say the sea bass and white wine pairing is as fantastic. Only downside was the group next to me but that wasn’t the venues fault!”

“Amazing Thai food with a separate gluten-free menu, which is perfect for coeliacs like me. I had a delicious three-course meal, the scallops were a stand out. Will absolutely be returning!”

“Came here for a family dinner to celebrate my daughter's graduation. The ambience was lovely, and the staff were efficient in getting us seated promptly. We placed our orders, and while the food was okay, it wasn't particularly memorable. One area that could be improved is cleanliness. The water jug on our table wasn't properly clean, so I'd suggest ensuring all items used for guests are thoroughly checked before being served. That said, the staff did their best to provide good service throughout our visit, which we appreciated.”

“Excellent standard of food. We shared the starters and main courses, so tried 8 dishes in total and all really good. Service was good, as were cocktails and wine list.”
